St. Laurence's Wood, Risdon and others commit

Kyle Wood, a physical 6-foot, 210-pound LHP/OF junior from St. Laurence HS, has verbally committed to Purdue University. A standout since his freshman year, Wood is one of the top two-way players in the Class of 2011. Over the summer and fall, Wood emerged as a premier pitching prospect as his velocity spiked in the upper-80s to go along with solid secondary stuff. As a sophomore, Wood hit 8 home runs and posted a 4-1 record for the Vikings.

Matt Risdon, a senior catcher from Mundelein HS, has committed to Chicago State. Risdon is one of the state’s better defensive backstops.

Richard Glenn, a hard-hitting OF/C from Homewood-Flossmoor HS, has committed to Triton JC.

Josh Keim, an INF from Rock Island HS, has committed to Black Hawk College.

Scott Albanese, a left-handed hitting OF from Sandburg HS, has committed to Webster University.
