No. 4 St. Rita had a fun 130 mile bus ride home after the Mustangs defeated Bloomington 15-2 in Bloomington on Thursday. Junior RHP Eddie De La Riva (1-0) fired a no-hitter for the Mustangs and senior Jake Thome had a 4-for-4 day with four RBI to pace the St. Rita (1-0) offense .Senior C Brian Sicher hammered a two-run shot for the Mustangs.

No. 33 Simeon (2-0) won again, blasting Agriculture Science 12-3. Darius Clifton hit a three-run homer to lead the Wolverine attack. Sophomore Robert Fletcher added a pair of hits and drove in a run with a double.Mailk Simmons contributed with a two-run double. Simmons added 3 quality innings of relief of winning pitcher Quincy Collins (1-0). Simmons fanned five for the Wolverines.

Lincoln-Way Central won their opener 2-1 over Marmion behind the booming bat of Kevin DeMatteo and the pitching of 6-foot-3 sophomore LHP Matt Mikolajcak (1-0). DeMatteo hit a two-run blast and doubled to provide the Knights with the only runs they would need. Mikolajcak. allowed one run in five innings to pick up the win on the mound.

Highland Park upended No. 29 Palatine 10-7 behind senior 1B Chase Cunnif and junior C Jason Goldstein. Cunnif had three hits and plated a pair for the Giants. Goldstein was 2-for-2 and drove home two runs. Senior Max Allen slammed the door on the Pirates with two scoreless innings of relief to pick up the win on the mound. Allen struck out five Pirate batsmen.

Senior C Jim Spearman and senior 2B Vince Potera hit homers for Palatine (0-1). Junior Alec Van Cleve went deep for Highland Park.

Montini (1-0) only needed one hit to win their opener 1-0 over Hinsdale Central. Packey Barrett singled home pinch-runner Joe Birholtz with the only run of the game. Bronco Anthony Reeber (1-0) pitched two scoreless innings of relief to pick up the win on the mound.

Richmond-Burton (1-0) rolled past McHenry 8-0 behind the booming bat of senior James Lesniewski. Lesniewski went 4-for 4, including three home runs and drove in seven to lead the one-man assault on the Warriors. Rocket Ray Wojciechowski (1-0) fired four shutout innings,striking out five, to earn the win on the mound.

Crystal Lake South (1-0) rolled past No. 35 Rockford Boylan 8-4 in Rockford. Gator junior C Dom Winiecki and junior first baseman Nick Martin homered for the victorious Gators. Senior Brandon Seiser (1-0) picked up the win on the mound and added a pair of hits.

Mahomet-Seymour (3-0) defeated Oakwood 10-5 behind senior Andrew Lawson. Lawson went 4-for-4 at the plate and pitched six quality innings on the mound for the Bulldogs. Parkland College recruit Jason Ziegler and junior Lyle Burns each homered for the 'Dogs.

Mt. Vernon improved to 4-0 with a 19-9 pasting of Geneseo. The Rams were led by Collin Young, who homered twice and drove in four runs. Blake Deaton and Pierce Borah each had four hits in the five-inning victory.
