Uncommitted Prospect Watch: Catcher Rutger Luebke (Medina)

Rutger Luebke, a 5-foot-11, 185-pound prospect for Medina High School, is one of the state’s top uncommitted catchers in the Class of 2012.

As a junior, he hit .356 with 15 runs, 12 RBIs, and a .435 on base percentage.

Because of his work on the field, he was named 1st Team All Northeast Ohio Conference as well as 1st Team All-Medina County.

In addition, Luebke is an accomplished student. He carries a 3.46 grade point average and plans to study business in college.

Because of his work off the field, he was named a Northeast Ohio Conference Scholar Athlete.

As he weighs his future college choices, Luebke says he is weighing offers from several DII GLIAC schools and some Division I schools outside of Ohio.

While selecting his future college destination, Luebke notes, “Academics will be considered in my choice, but I am also looking for a coaching staff that can develop my abilities to the max.”

Evaluating his skills, Luebke says his strengths are “athleticism, receiving, and speed. Also, I consider myself a good catch and throw guy.”
