Uncommitted Prospect Watch: OF Ryan LeFevers from Moeller

Ryan LeFevers a 6-foot, 170-pound outfield prospect impressed at the Prasco Park event with his overall athletic ability. He registered a 6.82 in the 60-yard dash. He uses long and loose arm action to register 82 mph from the outfield. At the plate, the right-handed hitter displayed an advanced approach and smooth, short load that produces line drives to all fields.

Last season, LeFevers batted 1st or 2nd in the Moeller line up during the spring.  Moeller Coach Tim Held describes LeFevers as "very fast and one of the most effortless runners I have seen."   Last season, he tied for 2nd in Moeller history with 25 steals in the spring. Held went on to say, "Ryan has gap power that his speed turns into triples.  He is an outstanding, and fearless, center fielder.  He covers a ton of ground and has an above average arm.  He takes charge in the outfield and did not misplay a single ball all season."

After the Prasco Park event, PBR caught up with LeFevers to get an update on his recruiting process.

PBR: What was it like and were your thoughts on participating in PBR's first southwest Ohio event?

LeFevers: It was great experience and really cool to be part of the first PBR event in southwest Ohio.

PBR: You were one of the top outfielders and displayed outstanding speed, how important to your game is speed

LeFevers: Speed is very important to my game. I like to steal bases as much as I can and I use it to run down fly balls in the outfield.

PBR: Do you take as much joy in stealing a base as grabbing a hit?

LeFevers: I take a lot of joy in stealing a base. Stealing bases speeds the game up for the defense and puts pressure  on them to make a play.

PBR: What was it like to be the leadoff hitter for a team ranked #1 in the state? Was there a bulls-eye as you led off each game?

LeFevers: The guys who batted behind kind of kept the bulls-eye off of me. I had Kyle Robinett and Alex Barlow batting behind me and both were great hitters. I think teams just wanted to keep me off base so they wouldn’t have to deal with those two with runners in scoring position.

PBR: With fall baseball upcoming, will you be participating, and if so with who?

LeFevers: I will be play fall ball. I play on coach Bellamy’s team in the champions’ league.

PBR: Are there particular colleges that have shown interest that you are considering to attend?

LeFevers: I’ve taken visits to Xavier and to Ohio and they have shown some interest in me.

PBR: What are some of the goals you have going into this final year at Moeller?

LeFevers: Develop further as a team Leader and player, work hard as a team to reach our goals of winning the GCL and State championship
