Updated Class of 2012 player rankings



Since the start of the spring season through the summer showcase tour, many Class of 2012 prospects have emerged as players to pay close attention to in the coming years. From what we’ve seen so far, the Class of 2012 looks to be strong group with several high-end prospects.

We rank the top 75 prospects in the Class of 2012 – a difficult process considering all the talented players in Illinois. Marian Catholic LHP Brett Lilek once again heads the class, followed by SS/RHP Brother Rice standout Ryan Koziol, Jacobs RHP Henry Gigeous, Simeon C Blake Hickman, Highland Park C Jason Goldstein, Westminster RHP Kevin Elder, Warren RHP/OF Patrick Kenney, Plainfield South C/SS Jake Roberts, St. Viator OF/LHP Jack Czeszewski, Oak Forest RHP Kyle Funkhouser, Oak Park C Jack Picchiotti and St. Rita 3B Stefano Belmonte.

There were many rising juniors who saw their stock soar over the past three months. Some of the biggest risers in the Class of 2012 include Westminster Christian RHP Kevin Elder, Oak Forest RHP Kyle Funkhouser, Morton LHP Will Headean, Lyons Township RHP/INF Steven Heilenbach, Harrisburg RHP Tyler McGowan, Jordan and Justin Ruckman from Herscher HS, and De La Salle RHP Patrick Haynes, to name a few.
