Warren Central at New Palestine



 

New Palestine 11 Warren Central 7
 
New Palestine, IN  5-2 Warren Central and undefeated New Palestine battled back and forth Wednesday, but New Palestine finally came out ahead. The game started out slow with a pitching duel between the two teams New Palestine was finally able to break through before Warren responded and New Pal had to battle again for the lead. The first two runs of the games came on a squeeze bunt by Senior Brian Clark in the second and a solo homerun by Senior David Gunst in the third. New Pal was able to break through a tight game in the bottom of the 4th scoring three ones, highlighted by a two run triple from Senior Brady Thomas, to take a 5-1 lead.
 
Warren would respond to the runs by New Pal with a big six run inning to take a 7-5 lead. Warren led off the inning with a double by Senior Austin Mitchell then a single by Junior David Gegner. Those hits would by the catalyst to get Warren going as the next six batters were able to reach bases safely. After Junior Josh Piercey singled in a run to tie the game and New Palestine would have to replace their starting pitcher Brian Clark. Warren was able to take the lead by two after a few passed balls allowed the runs to score.
 
New Palestine came right back and put up three runs in the bottom of the frame, to grab the 8-7 lead. Warren had an opportunity to tie the game back up after leading off the 6th with a single, but Junior Reid Clark was able to get a pop out then strike out the next two batters to end the threat. New Pal would extend their lead in the bottom of the 6th scoring three more runs, capped off by a Brian Clark two run single. Reid Clark would get Warren in order to end the game and keep New Pal undefeated on the young season.
