Western ace Bo Weir forgoes senior year

Bo Weir, who?s the No. 9-ranked prospect in the state, has decided to forgo his senior year and pitch for Parkland College this spring. Weir, a 6-foot-2, 215-pound left-hander burst onto the scene when he displayed an easy 87 mph fastball at a Prep Baseball Report showcase last winter. Weir?s stock continued to climb, especially in the summer when he was consistently 88-90 mph with his fastball. Weir?s ability will be a big bonus for Parkland, which is one of the best Division II junior colleges in the country.

Logan Sparkman, a 6-foot-3 LHP from DeKalb HS, has committed to Oakland University in Michigan. Sparkman has impressed with his fluid mid-80s fastball and command of three pitches.
