Prep Baseball Report

York's Hinchley, several others name their schools

Ryan Hinchley, a 6-foot-2, 170-pound junior LHP from York HS, has verbally committed to the University of Kentucky. Hinchley, who’s the No. 9-ranked prospect in the loaded Class of 2011, shot up the ranks after his showing at a Prep Baseball Report showcase in December. At the event, Hinchley topped at 90 mph and consistently sat at 87-88 mph with his fastball. He also showed excellent feel for his curveball and changeup.

Hinchley joins Mount Carmel OF/LHP Jeff Boehm in Kentucky’s Class of 2011 recruiting class. Hinchley’s York teammate, senior RHP Steve Adkins, is signed at Bradley.

In other recruiting news, Luke Joyce, a senior LHP from Loyola Academy HS, has committed to the University of Illinois. The 6-foot-2 Joyce possesses a mid-to-upper-80s fastball, which he used to go 4-4 last spring.

Paul Poirier, a senior RHP from Carmel HS, has committed to Iowa Western CC. The 6-foot-4 Poirier joins Cary-Grove All-State SS Chris Waylock in Iowa Western’s recruiting class.

Easton Kowalski, a RHP/1B from Crystal Lake South HS, has committed to the University of Illinois-Springfield.

Mark Kasper, an athletic OF from De La Salle HS, has committed to Joliet JC.

Trinity Christian College in Palos Heights landed commitments from Oak Lawn SS/RHP Tom Mann and Streamwood RHP Mike Diebold.
