6/25/19

A lean frame at 6-foot-0 tall,165 pounds. Ran a 7.38 in the 60 yard dash. Offensively- Stands in the box in a tall stance. Hands start in a low position. Takes a short stride towards the pitcher. Quick direct path to the baseball. Keeps a flat bat head throughout the hitting zone. Gets good extension after the point of contact. Finishes with one hand follow through. Top exit velocity was 90 MPH. Defensively- Showed active footwork.  Receives the ball slightly off center. Has a smooth transition. Throws from a high ¾ arm slot. Top throwing velocity was 71 MPH. Pop time ranged from a 2.22-2.31.

2.18.19

A lean 6-foot-0, 165 pounds. Ran a 7.70 60 yard dash. Offensively- Stands in the box with slightly open tall stance with loose hands with the bat resting near the shoulder. Simple load, short strong swing into the hitting zone. Takes a short stride towards the pitcher. Consistent line drive swings in the hitting portion. A lot left in the tank for the 2020 C. Exit velocity was 88 MPH. Defensively- Sits in a wide low stance and smooth footwork when shooting out of the catching position. Quick release with a strong arm to 2B. Pop time range was 2.07-2.09 with a top velocity of 70 MPH. The 2020 graduate is someone to follow going forward. Good arm with a solid bat at the next level.

July 2018

Solid wiry frame, with plenty of room for physical growth. David is very projectable behind the plate. He is smooth with his defensive game, and excels in his footwork and frame work. He has a strong arm and pops up well when throwing the ball down to 2nd base.

Preseason West (Feb. 19, 2018)
Belsito stands 6-foot-0, 165-pounds from a solidly build frame with more to build on. At the plate, he uses an open stance, hands loose by his back ear. Barrel plane is mostly level through contact, shoulder height finish with a 81 mph exit velocity off a tee. Behind the plate he uses a wide stance, clean glove to hand transfer, throws from a high 3/4 slot with arm-strength at 68 mph (up one since Sept.) His pop time range is currently 2.12-2.17, increasing his footwork and arm-strength will be key behind the plate. At first-base he moves around the bag with comfort, fields behind the ball, made accurate throws to each bag from the 3/4 slot.

WNY All-Star Games (September 24, 2017)

Slender 5-foot-11 145 frame for the right-handed hitting backstop. Offensively- Open setup with feet shoulder's width apart; 30 degree bat angle that inches back on the pitch. Uses a short stride that could get down a touch sooner; hands lead into swing with later lower half activity. Movement is there, needs to be aggressive earlier. Mix of flyball/line drive results. Exit velocity improved by 2 MPH to 82 MPH. Defensively- Compact setup; gains ground during pop step; elevated transfer deep on the body with a short draw. Works through a 3/4 release with a slight delay after transfer before forward arm swing. Improved arm strength to 67 MPH from 61 MPH. Earlier transfer with fluid arm action will only help take down his improved 2.12-2.20 pop time.

Campus Series-Buffalo (July 5, 2017)

Belsito stands in at 5-foot-11, 140-pounds with a lean frame. Ran a 4.75 home to first. Offensively- Righty sets up in an open stand with his feet just outside shoulder width. Shows a slight knee bend with an upright torso holding his hands just above the back shoulder using little pre-pitch bat movement. On pitch, his trigger is a knee raise to stride forward squaring up to the pitcher while his hands move back slightly into his hitting position. Shows quick hands to the zone with a level barrel path throughout into a high two-handed finish. Has good lower body rotation getting whole frame involved in swing. Demonstrated ability to hit line drives up the middle and pull slide during batting practice round. Recorded an exit velocity of 80 MPH. Defensively- Frames well on pitches. Needs to throw downhill more on throws to first and second. Decent footwork getting into throwing position but needs to be quicker, which will get better with more reps. Recorded a positional catcher arm velocity of 61 MPH and showed a pop time range of 2.39-2.46.
