OUTLOOK:

Head Coach Jeff Buckner and the Guerin Catholic Golden Eagles had a solid year in 2013 finishing the season 18-9 and advancing to the sectional final.  This spring Buckner's team will look a lot different after losing nine seniors to graduation, including seven regular starters. On the mound the Golden Eagles return three arms, however they combined for just 30 IP in 2013.  This season appears to be a re-building year, however, there is good, young talent on this year's squad that Buckner believes will be very competitive by seasons end.  Senior MIF Adam Glaze returns for his final season at Guerin.  The 5-foot-8, 120 pound senior has started for the Golden Eagles since the middle of his freshman season. Glaze hit .304 as a junior in 2013.  Three-sport athlete, Matt Labus, a 6-foot, 175 pound junior returns after posting a .349 OBP last spring.  Labus is a varsity starter in football, basketball and baseball.  Junior RHP/3B Cody Brazill is the only non-senior that had a significant impact on the mound last spring and will be the leader on the mound for Guerin this sesason.  The 6-foot, 180 pound righty pitched 24 innings as a sophomore going 3-1 with 21 K's and a 2.92 ERA.  Coach Buckner will look to Junior RHP Bryan Settles and Junior OF Sam Gorsage for heavy contributions this spring, along with sophomore LHP Luke Buehler. Buehler saw two innings of work as a freshman where he struck out four.  The 5-foot-10, 158 pound lefty will be a key piece to the Golden Eagles success this spring.
