Catchers

Mitchell Morton C / 3B / Plano West , TX / 2025

Morton is one of the premier catch and throw guys in the state regardless of class and he put that on display at Texas State. He is an easy mover behind the plate with a plus arm that helps him generate pop times in the upper 1.8’s. He is also a quality receiver and can really block back there as well.  At the plate, Morton has a swing that keeps him in the big part of the field the majority of the time, but he has flashed the ability to lose balls to the pull side. He has a projectable frame and should continue to add some strength. Morton has a chance to be a + defender behind the plate with some pop.

Carter Rutenbar C / 3B / Midlothian Heritage, TX / 2025

Rutenbar is a LHH catcher from Midlothian Heritage. He has been a big performer in big situations this summer and plays the game with an old school feel. Behind the plate, Rutenbar is a quality receiver and he flashes a plus arm.  He will hop on the mound sometimes and can sit comfortably in the upper 80’s. At the plate, Rutenbar has some current pull side power, but still maintains an approach that is geared towards gap to gap.  He has good bat speed, and shows the ability to hit good velocity.

Infielders

Blake Beheler 1B / 1B / George Ranch, TX / 2025

The hard hitting 1st baseman from George Ranch continues to elevate his game each time we see him. The rising Jr. had a good day overall, and showed surprising athleticism for his size. Beheler ran a 7.04 60, and it showed up in the game when he hit a triple to the LC gap. Beheler tied for the highest exit velocity during the BP portion of the workout. He has a lot of strength to go with  + bat speed and he generates some loud numbers. But the swing stays short and he shows the willingness to use the whole field.  Beheler continues to get better, and I am excited to see him at Lakepoint.

Jarret Halter SS / 2B / Pleasant Grove, TX / 2025

Halter is another player that has an old school feel to him. I first saw him in the playoffs this spring and he impressed me with his barrel skills and overall tenacity he played the game with. He is a good athlete, whose baseball IQ allows him to play faster, and he should be able to handle all 3 positions up the middle.  At the plate, Halter is a player that can wear out the gaps and consistently gets the barrel on the ball. He has a slight leg kick to start his swing, but he is always on time when I see him and shows the willingness to drive the ball to all fields.

Conner Helms SS / SS / Dripping Springs, TX / 2025

Helms continues to make big jumps when I see him. The CenTex infielder showed off his arm during the defensive workouts. He had an event best 90 mph infield velo, and showed good accuracy with the arm as well. He can make all the plays on the left side of the infield and his glove work impresses each time I see him.  At the plate, Helms shows off elite bat speed with a max of 84.0.  He is able to produce upper 90’s exit velocities and shows some real power potential with the projection left in his frame.  Helms always gets after it, and he continues to get better, he has turned himself into one of the top uncommitted bats in the state for the ‘25 class.

Joseph Sandusky SS / 3B / Mcneil, TX / 2025

Sandusky has a strong, athletic build and plays the game with plenty of bounce.  He ran a 6.88 to start his day, and then put on a clinic with the glove during his defensive workout. He showed a strong arm, topping out at 88 mph across the diamond.  At the plate, Sandusky has a compact, short swing that generates high exit velocity numbers. He topped out at 95.5 and also showed the ability to backspin the ball to the pull side. Sandusky is one of the top uncommitted middle infielders in the state.

Cayden Mitchell 3B / RHP / Mansfield Timberview , TX / 2025

Mitchell played in last year's Future Games, and the rising Jr. from Mansfield Timberview looks to build off last year's performance. Mitchell has a frame to dream on, and should be an athletic, physical 3rd baseman when he is done filling out. He has really started to hit the ball with authority this summer and shows + bat speed in the box.  He is a good defender at 3rd and should be able to stick there long term, but he also showed that he can handle the outfield if need be.  Mitchell has a + arm that plays anywhere on the field, including the  mound.  Mitchell has a lot of loud tools, and profiles as a power hitting 3rd baseman with a big arm from the hot corner.

Trey Rangel RHP / SS / The Colony , TX / 2026

Rangel burst on to the scene this spring as a freshman at The Colony, dominating on the mound and locking down shortstop, and earned a spot as the only 2026 on this year’s Future Game roster. He is a smooth athlete, who has an ultra projectable 6’1 frame. He has broad shoulders, and it is easy to envision him putting on 25-30 lbs.  He has a + arm from short and  can make any throw from the left side of the infield.  He shows good glove work and moves well laterally to both sides.  At the plate, Rangel doesn’t try to do too much and stays in the big part of the field. He has doubles power right now, but as he gets stronger he should develop into at least average power.

Outfielders

Kash Wood 1B / OF / Sinton, TX / 2025

Wood has really impressed this summer when we have gotten our eyes on him. This was his 2nd event of the summer, and one thing is becoming clear, Wood has a really good feel for the barrel. The rising Jr. from Sinton is a good athlete who can handle a corner OF spot or 1st.  He has a good arm, topping out at 93 from the OF and 86 across the diamond.  At the plate, Wood looks hitterish when he steps in the box, and consistently finds the barrel. He had multiple hits in the game at the Top Prospect Games at TCU with good rhythm in the box, and does a good job of staying in the big part of the field.  He shows the ability to drive the ball to all fields with authority, and with a frame that still has some projection. Wood should continue to gain some power.

William Van Wie OF / OF / Memorial, TX / 2025

Van Wie is a physical, athletic outfielder from Houston Memorial HS. the RHH stands 6’2 190 and moves well for his size.  At the plate, Van Wie has blossoming power to all fields.  He is pretty quick to the ball for his size, and doesn’t try to do too much. It is a repeatable operation, not having to sell out to get to his power.  Van Wie is a good mover, and will have the potential to stick in center long term.  Van Wie has loud tools, and it has really shown up in game this spring and summer.

Andrew Baay OF / MEMORIAL H S, TX / 2025

One of Van Wie’s HS teammates and fellow outfielder is Baay. The LHH has had a great summer that has seen him be an on base machine and really elevate his game.  The speedster profiles as a leadoff, 2 hole type, as he can really run and puts the bat on the ball. He uses the whole field and never tries to do too much with it.  Baay can run sub 6.7 so he should be able to stick in Center long term.  Andrew is also a high academic student who offers a lot of value in the classroom as well.

Brady Janusek OF / 3B / LIBERTY CHRISTIAN SCHOOL, TX / 2025

Januesek is another one that looks the part when you see the rising Jr. from Argyle Liberty Christian. The 6’2 OF has a strong frame, and can really run for his size.  Janusek is a star wideout on the football field and the speed carries over to the diamond.  At the plate, Janusek’s swing has shown tremendous improvement throughout the spring and he has been making hard, consistent contact all summer. Janusek has the tools to be one of the best all around position players in the state for his class, and it will be fun to see him in action at LakePoint.

Pitchers

Nick Wesloski RHP / OF / McKinney Boyd, TX / 2025

The 6’3 Wesloski was sharp in his outing on Monday at TCU. The righty from Mckinney sat in the upper 80’s and bumped 90 a couple times with much more to come. Wesloski has a starter's build, with a stronger lower half that should allow him to handle the workload. His fastball has some hop at the top of the zone, and he can sink it when it is down. His changeup is the better of the two secondary pitches right now. He threw it with good arm speed and got up to 26 in. of Horizontal movement on one of them for a swing and miss. His slider is tighter, and he is throwing it firmer. It has late, short break, that he threw off the plate to righties and under the hands to lefties. Wesloski has a frame that looks like a MLB starter, and the stuff is really starting to trend that way.  It will be exciting to see him toe the rubber this week in Atlanta.

Mason Murphy RHP / 1B / Ridge Point, TX / 2025

Murphy is an imposing figure standing on the mound, as he measures in at 6’5 230 lbs. The rising Jr. from powerhouse Ridge Point HS has had a really good summer that sees him continue to get better. He features an upper 80’s fastball that will climb into the low 90’s and it has a lot of life in the upper part of the zone.  He is tough to get on top of and square up with that pitch. He also throws a low 80’s Slider that compliments his fastball well. Murphy has the frame of a workhorse, and the stuff has really begun to tick up this year.  He should garner a lot of attention after his outing at LakePoint.

Jarret Halter SS / 2B / Pleasant Grove, TX / 2025

Halter isn’t just a slick fielding middle infielder, he can also dominate on the bump. The righty will also get a couple innings on the mound for Team Texas. He sits mostly in the mid 80’s and can get more when he needs it. He really knows how to pitch and is the ultimate competitor on the mound as well. He compliments the fastball with a traditional curveball that he shows good command of and can generate swings and misses with.  Halter will be all over the field this week for Texas, and I have a feeling he will ball out wherever he is.

Trey Rangel RHP / SS / The Colony , TX / 2026

Rangel is a legit two way player, but Rangel is special on the Mound. The righty from The Colony has great feel on the mound to go with + stuff. His fastball sits in the upper 80’s and he recently topped out at 92.6  It isn’t just the easy velocity that is impressive, it is the ability to move the fastball to both sides of the plate and change eye levels with it. He has a plan that he is trying to execute, and it is impressive to watch him operate. He also throws a mid 70’s curveball that he has good command of.  The shape can vary from time to time, but as he gets stronger I think that will take care of itself. He has a promising changeup that should help keeps lefties honest.  Rangel is very mature on the mound, and it is a joy to watch him compete.  Rangel still has 3 years of HS left, but he has a chance to be special.

Jack Jorgenson RHP / Reedy, TX / 2025

Jorgenson is another returner from last year’s Future Game team. The RHP from Frisco Reedy has had quite the spring and summer.  He helped lead his HS to the 5A state tournament, dominating his rival in the Regional Final. Jorgenson is an intelligent pitcher who has an aggressive mentality and comes right at you. He should be in the 87-89 range and flashes a quality 12 to 6 breaking ball with good depth, and a changeup he can really kill the spin with and bury at the bottom of the zone.

Baron Mannis LHP / OF / Argyle , TX / 2025

The LHP from Argyle showed high end present stuff, and a frame to dream on as well. The 6’2 rising Jr. showed a fastball that sat in the mid 80’s topping out at 87.  He throws from a high slot, averaging 6’7 on his release height, which pairs great with his OTT curveball.  He can start both at the top of the zone, and drop the breaking ball in for a strike or bury it at the plate to put the hitter away. Mannis really shows the ability to pitch to both sides of the plate, and uses one pitch to set up the next. Mannis really is just scratching the surface of how talented he can be, and he hopes to show everyone at Lakepoint just how good his stuff is.

Connor Jones RHP / 3B / Concordia Lutheran, TX / 2025

We first learned about Jones at last year’s Texas State Games, and ever since then, the RHP from Houston has continued to get better. The 6’2 righty had a big year for private school powerhouse Concordia Lutheran, as he stepped into a big role and found success all spring.  His velocity has continued to steadily rise and he will sit in the upper 80’s and touch low 9’s on a good day. It is an easy, repeatable operation with a frame that should allow him to continue to put on good weight.  He will flash a good breaking ball that he has good command of.  Jones is a good athlete, with a good frame that just continues to get better.

Kaleb Rogers RHP / OF / Reagan, TX / 2025

The RHP from San Antonio  shows a good fastball that sits in the upper 80’s and it is easy to dream on what that number could become.  It's a clean arm with an efficient path that he repeats well. He throws strikes with the pitch and shows some sink and asr when down in the zone.  He has impressive secondary offerings. He throws his changeup with great arm speed and it looked just like his fastball out of the hand.  He also throws a tight, short breaking slider that he throws in the mid 70’s.  When he stays on top of it, it shows good depth and the potential for a put away pitch.
