Blast Motion Leaderboard: Lake Charles Summer ID

Alex Armand
Louisiana Scouting Director

Lake Charles, LA - The Lake Charles Summer ID was held on Sunday May 19, 2024, at Barbe High School.  This was our first open event of the summer and consisted of uncommitted prospects from the 2024-2028 high school classes from across the state.  All players in attendance went through an extended pro-style workout, that included batting practice using Trackman and Blast, the 60 yard dash using Swift Performance, defensive evaluations, and much more.  After the completion of the workout, all pitchers threw bullpens using Trackman Baseball to capture critical data and metrics such as fastball velocity, vertical/horizontal break, spin rate, and much more.

Today, with the help of one of our tech partners, Blast Motion, we continue our post-event coverage with a closer look at the top Blast Motion metrics and data from the position players in attendance at last Sunday's Lake Charles Summer ID.

Body Rotation: A swing that has the appropriate relative contributions of body and bat rotations is an efficient and Powerful swing that maintains proper sequencing. An efficient baseball swing is one in which the body creates the initial movements, which is then transferred to the arms and out to the bat, thereby maximizing Bat Speed through this proximal-to-distal kinematic sequencing movement pattern.
