Brian Walker and Scott Hood
Arkansas Staff

As the summer comes to an end and the 2024 class heads into their senior campaigns, we take an update look at the 2024 class rankings.  The 24 class has already proven itself to be one of the stronger classes in recent memory with 33 prospects already committed with 26 division one commits already on the board.  Caldwell remains the top player in the class after another impressive spring and summer and is turning into one of the top bats in the class in the country.  The next couple of spots are taken up by the high-end arms in Davis, Busby, Felder, and Andrews who are all headed to Fayetteville next fall.  Velasquez checks in at number 7 as the top middle infielder in the class with Ward and Belcher right behind him as the top backstops in the class.  Rounding out the Top 10 is Kircher with his power arm potential heading to Norman next year.

TOP UNCOMMITTED PROSPECTS

Even with 33 players already landing their commitments for next year, there are still plenty of uncommitted prospects that are worth taking a second look at.  The 10 highest ranked remaining uncommitted prospects have plenty to offer for schools at the next level.

Rex Tedder RHP / RHP / Walnut Ridge , AR / 2024

The right-hander from Walnut Ridge checks in as the highest ranked remaining uncommitted prospect in the Natural State at number 18 on this update.  Tedder attacks hitters using his long and lean build at 6-foot-4 and 167 pounds that can easily add more weight and strength in the future.  The ball jumps out of his hand at ease working up to 90 mph and shows feel for spinning a low 70's curveball with tight action and spin.  Look for Tedder to continue to make big jumps in the future with clear untapped potential and advanced hand speed on the mound.

Paxton Flagg C / OF / Greenbrier , AR / 2024

The backstop from Greenbrier is the top remaining uncommitted bat in the 2024 class in Arkansas coming in at number 19 on the list.  Flagg has a simple approach at the plate and has shown some hand strength in the past making him an intriguing catching prospect with hitting tools.  Behind the plate, Flagg has worked pop times in the mid 1.9's and shows a flexible lower half and strong receiving skills.  On top of the hitting and defensive skills, Flagg offers some sneaky athleticism making him an interesting prospect to follow in the coming months.

Gavin Kelley RHP / OF / Benton, AR / 2024

Kelley stakes the number 20 spot in this rankings update as one of the more projectable right-handed arms in the class.  Standing at 6-foot-2 and 175 pounds, Kelley uses his over the top slot and long strides to get his upper 80's fastball to play up at a higher level getting on hitters quicker than the radar gun will tell you.  Another sign of more to come is his sub 6.9 60 time which shows his overall athleticism which can easily translate into more velocity in the near future.

Daxton Webb OF / LHP / Brookland , AR / 2024

Webb remains one of the top 2-way prospects in the state with explosive tools on both sides of the ball landing him at number 25 in the rankings update.  At the plate, Webb has a quick twitch rotational swing and stays behind the ball at contact well that has generated exit velocities up to 93 mph in the past.  With the strong barrel control and 6.78 60 time, Webb has the type of offensive skills that can easily play at the top of the order at the next level.  On the mound the left-hander works the fastball up to 89 mph and shows feel for tight spinning curveballs in the mid 70's.  Both sides of the ball could make impacts at the next level making him one of the more intriguing prospects to follow in the next couple of months.

Cutter Colvert 3B / 1B / Lonoke, AR / 2024

Colvert checks in at number 26 on this overall rankings at the 5th highest remaining uncommitted prospect in the State.  One of the top power bats in the class with elite bat speed and hand strength that generates exit velocities up into the low 100's.  At 6-foot-3 and 225 pounds, Colvert is able to create a ton of power but does a great job of maintaining balance throughout the swing.   The uncommitted prospect projects to play on the corners at the next level and has shown soft hands and strong glove action to play above average defense.

Carter Nye SS / RHP / Bentonville , AR / 2024

Nye checks in at number 27 overall in the class and the 6th highest ranked remaining uncommitted prospect.  Nye has some of the best tools in the class of the remaining uncommitted with a sub 7 60 time, exit velocities in the mid 90's, and 85 mph across the diamond.  Nye has a loose swing from the right side with a strong use of the lower half and strong rhythm.  One the mound he has worked the fastball in the mid 80's with a unique delivery and showing the ability to hide the ball behind the body well.  With his overall athleticism, look for Nye to be one of the more sought after guys remaining in the class.

Grayson Porter RHP / 3B / Horatio, AR / 2024

The right-hander from Horatio checks in at number 30 in the overall list and the 7th highest ranked remaining uncommitted prospect.  Standing at 6-foot-2 and 180 pounds, Porter has plenty of room to continue to add size and strength in the future.  Porter works very quickly down the mound with some of the best hand speed in the class working the fastball in the mid to upper 80's mainly generated by the arm swing.  To go along with the advanced hand speed, Porter is able to generate tight spin on the slider making it a potential swing and miss pitch.

Tate Collins RHP / RHP / Little Rock Christian, AR / 2024

Collins finds himself at number 32 in the overall rankings and the 8th highest remaining uncommitted prospect in the State.  Collins attacks hitters with a long an loose arm action to work the fastball in the upper 80's with some riding life through the zone and some late arm side running action at times.  He pairs the riding fastball nicely with a big curveball in the low 70's with strong action and 12/6 shape making it tough for hitters to get on plane with him.  Collins has the type of arm that should continue to make big jumps and has plenty of untapped potential on the mound for the future.

Andre Bell RHP / 2B / Joe T. Robinson , AR / 2024

Bell ranks as the 35th overall player in the class and 9th ranked remaining uncommitted player in the state.  Bell packs a lot of punch in his 5-foot-9 and 180 pound frame working exit velocities up to 95 mph from the right side with a strong rotational swing.  He has some athleticism running a sub 7 60 and shows active feet defensively with some feel for glove action and soft hands.  Bell also has had some success on the mound with a sinking fastball in the low to mid 80's with a clean and quick arm action and short and tight shape on the breaking ball.

Christian Carnal 1B / 3B / Star City, AR / 2024

Carnal ranks as the 38th overall prospect in the State and the 10th highest remaining uncommitted prospect.  The former future gamer has one of the more powerful left-handed swings in the state with smooth rhythm and some hand strength that has worked exit velocities up into the mid 90's in the past.  Defensively, Carnal shows soft hands and active feet with strong footwork around the bag.  Teams looking for a potential left-handed hitting power bat to play the corner should take another look at Carnal in the coming months.
