DARIEN, IL - In the second of two Sectional Semifinals played at Hinsdale South, No. 9 Plainfield North cruised to 14-4 win over No. 14 Plainfield East.

The Tigers of Plainfield North (25-7-1) punched their ticket to the Sectional Championship with a barrage of offense. The Tigers pounded out 17 hits and used a big seven run third inning to pull away from Plainfield East. Seven Tigers collected multiple hits in the game.

In the seven run third inning, the Tigers collected four hits and sent 10 batters to the plate. The two big blows of the inning came from Greg Budig and Cameron Kissel. With the bases loaded and one out, Budig laced a double into the left-center field gap that cleared the bases. Kissel came to the plate later in the inning with two outs and a man on first and hit a towering, no-doubt home run over the wall in left field. The Tigers left the top of the third inning leading 10-2. They would go on to tack on three more in the sixth and another in the seventh.

Plainfield East (28-7) hung with North for the start of the game. Trailing 1-0 in the Bottom of the first, lead-off batter, Dylan Carlson (College of DuPage commit) ripped a double to right-center field and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Dalton Crowder (Lewis commit). In total, Plainfield East collected three hits on the day, all off of North starter Brady Miller.

Miller, a Western Michigan commit, flashed impressive stuff in his five innings of work. The 6-foot-4 right-hander worked behind a fastball that sat comfortably in the upper-80’s throughout, touching 90 on occasion. He went to his curveball and changeup often, getting a number of swing and misses and weak contact on the changeup. In the win, Miller scattered three hits, two earned runs, struck out six and walked three. Nick Cerrato, a Wisconsin-Platteville commit, came in and worked two hitless, shutout innings while striking out three.
