Arkansas Insider: Teams to Watch for 2018 Recuits

By: Zac Bottoms
Arkansas Scouting Director

We enter July so we are at least half way through the summer circuit. I want to look the top teams in the state coaches and scouts to watch for upper classmen.

  1. Sticks Baseball Academy Elite- This group features 9 SEC commits on their roster at any given time. On the mound they have the who’s who of pitchers from Arkansas. Offensively they may not have the depth in names as they have on the mound but they are solid. 2019 C Cason Tollett and 2019 OF/RHP Blake Adams anchor the middle of the order and are surrounded by a good mix of athletes and some others with power potential. 2018 RHP/CIF Will Richardson is the top uncommitted two way player in the state. With 2018 RHP Connor Noland, 2018 LHP Kaleb Hill, 2018 RHP Jaden Hill, 2018 LHP Evan Hiatt, 2018 RHP Connor McCullough, 2018 RHP/OF Kam Mays-Hunt, and 2018 RHP Wade Beasley, have made the Sticks Baseball Elite the hottest team in the state.

  2. Perfect Timing Blue 17U- This group hooked up with Sticks Elite this summer, and it was a good contest, which Sticks Elite pulled out late with a one run lead. On the mound they have a solid three man rotation with 2018 RHP Miller Pliemann, 2018 RHP Landon Brown and 2018 RHP Andrew McGlynn. This group gets plenty of run support with advanced 2018 hitters lead by 2018 1B/OF Tyler Johnson, 2018 1B Luke Johnson and 2018 CIF Nathan Lyons. Defensively they are anchored by premium short stop 2018 MIF Mac McCrosky. This group has more uncommitted athletes which are drawing colleges from throughout the region on a nightly bases.

  3. Arkansas Prospects Fullerton- A talented group of uncommitted athletes. 2018 LHP/1B Jordan Wicks has become one of the hotter names on the circuit after he decommitted from Arkansas State to begin the summer. Other players that are uncommitted coaches have begun to clamor over include 2018 CIF/RHP Aaron Mann, 2018 C Jack Stroth, and 2018 OF Parker Gavazzi, . This group has had much success through the years and are worth a look. A player that has impressed this summer is 2018 MIF Pate Fullerton which is committed to Harding University. He is an advanced defender at short stop and grinds out at bats as a competitive left- handed hitter.
