Bloomington North Sweeps Lawrence North in Double Header

On Saturday Lawrence North traveled down to Bloomington, Indiana to play Bloomington North in a double header.  In game one, senior RHP Nick Weybright (Dayton commit), got the start for L.N. while senior RHP Tyler Hurt (Cedarville Commit) received the start for B.N.  Both pitchers threw well, allowing no earned runs.  Weybright pitched five innings, throwing seven strikeouts and giving up three hits.  Hurt threw four innings, striking out four and allowing only two hits.

In the bottom of the third inning, B.N.’s Adam Cornwell reached base on a base hit and would eventually score on Baron Ryan’s  RBI.  Bloomington North would hold the 1-0 lead through four innings.  Lawrence North would pick up a run of their own in the top of the fifth when freshman Nolan Watson got things started for the Wildcats with a base hit up the middle.  Bases eventually were loaded on a walk and a hit batter.  Bloomington North would again hit a batter, allowing Watson to score and tying the game at one a piece.

Bloomington North was able to put the game out of reach in the bottom of sixth by scoring three more runs.  Lawrence North rallied to score one more run in the top of seventh, but stranded two runners on second and third to end the game.

Final: Bloomington North 4 Lawrence North 2

Game two was another close game between the two schools.  Senior Craig Larew started for Lawrence North.  Larew pitched seven innings, striking out eight and allowing only three hits.  Despite Larew’s outstanding pitching performance Bloomington North was able to overcome a 2-0 Lawrence North lead and win the game in the bottom of the eighth 3-2.
