A large-framed, strong bodied backstop at 6-foot-2, 225 pounds, Tinsman is also athletic enough to handle an outfield corner with the needed arm strength for right field. Above average-to-plus power to all fields is his top tool, as evidenced by him clubbing 10 home runs as a freshman starter for the Demon Deacons in 2019. He will need to improve his bat to ball skills with 66 strikeouts in 172 plate appearances in 2019 and another 34 in 100 PAs during the 2019 summer. That trend also continued with 21 in 67 PAs during an 18 game 2020 shortened spring season. Behind the dish he has shown improving receiving skills and currently shows POP times in the low-2.0s.
