Eastern Wisconsin Open: Statistical Analysis
August 21, 2019
On Monday, Aug. 19, the PBR Wisconsin team travelled to Sheboygan to host Wildwood Baseball Park in Sheboygan, Wis., home of the Sheboygan A’s, to host the annual Eastern Wisconsin Open showcase. We had a group of around 70 players attend the event and today is dedicated to analyzing all of the measured data gathered at the event.
Below, we’re going to break down each of the statistical categories to highlight some of the day's top performers. Keep an eye out in the coming weeks for videos from this showcase to be posted, and for scouting reports to be compiled in the next month or so.
We touched on a ton of Monday's top performers already in our Quick Hits post, published yesterday, so check back there for more details. For now, check out our Stats Story.
TOP 60-YARD DASH
Blake Hall's (Random Lake, 2020) breakout day began here, at the 60-yard dash. He sped through the long grass in the outfield and still burned his way to a 6.76 mark. Incoming sophomore Connor Roloff (Cedarburg) was among the more athletic prospects in attendance on Monday and his 60 time proves that.

TOP FASTBALL VELOCITY
Once we knew Logan Schulfer (Stevens Point, 2021; Wisconsin-Milwaukee commit) was headed to Sheboygan, we figured the race for the second-best fastball velocity was on. Schulfer was shoo-in for the top spot here and he reached back and touched one 91 mph. The handful tied at 84 mph were expounded on in detail yesterday, but all of them stood out for various reasons.

TOP EXIT VELOCITY
Jacob Modjeski's (Port Washington, 2021) 97 mph exit velocity mark does an excellent job at telling the story of how hard he can hit it from the right-handed box. He was among, if not the, top power bats at Wildwood on Monday.

TOP OUTFIELD VELOCITY
Another member of the '23 class topped the outfield leaderboard: Logan Frank (Oshkosh North). As you might expect, the strong and athletic Frank used that arm strength well on the mound, too.

TOP CATCHER VELOCITY
We've identified Green Bay Preble's Hunter Petska (2020) a couple of times both earlier this summer and previewing Monday's event. He held up his end of the bargain with another solid all-around performance in Sheboygan, four ticks better with his throws down to second. He's still uncommitted.

TOP POP TIME
Petska also averaged the lowest pop times of the group of catchers, but Nick Nowak (Waukesha South, 2021) cut it real close. Nowak was also among the day's best performers, from the mound to behind the plate and at it. He's become a real prospect to follow through the rest of 2019 and beyond.
