Cory Brooks, RHP, Hilliard Darby HS, Class of 2017

PBR: Why did you choose Purdue?

Brooks: It was very easy for me to commit to Purdue, coming into a program with a brand new coaching staff that has had great success at their previous schools, and a great vision for this program; on top of the facilities and the university itself.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Brooks: I was considering a few other schools such as Wright State, University of Cincinnati, and Ohio State early on.

PBR: Coach Wasikowski is in new era at Purdue.  How does it feel to be a part of his first recruiting class?

Brooks: It's very exciting. Coach Wasikowski has had great success at the previous schools he has coached at, and I can't wait to be a part of what he is going to build at Purdue.

PBR: Now that you have your commitment out of the way, what are your goals individually as you prepare for your freshman season?

Brooks: My main goal is to put myself in the best position to come in and contribute to my team's success as a freshman.

PBR: How does it feel to be a part of a Division 1 baseball program?

Brooks: It is very humbling. It has been a dream of mine since I was a little kid and all the hard work and dedication has paid off. It's a great feeling.

PBR: Who do you play for in the summer and what was the most memorable experience from this summer?

Brooks: I played for Ohio Independence. My most memorable experience from the summer was playing with my teammates; it's very fun being around a group of guys who share the same love for the game and have the same aspirations as you.

PBR:  What person has the great impact on your baseball career and why?

Brooks: I could give you a whole list of names. I have been very fortunate and blessed to have the coaches and mentors I have had in my life, but I'd put my Dad at the top of that list. He has been a great role model and has always pushed me to be the best and I can't thank him enough for turning me into who I am today on and off the field.
