Kentucky Daily Roundup: Scores and Highlights From March 22 Games

While some games were rained out in the western part of Kentucky, the majority of the rest of the state managed to play baseball last night. Here is a look at some of the scores and highlights from the action on the diamond.

Power 25 Scores and Highlights

#1 St. Xavier 10, North Oldham 0
Jake Bennett went 2-for-4 with a triple and RBI, Cooper Smith went 2-for-4 with a double and RBI, Landon Akers added 2 hits and drove in a run, and Benton Purnell had 2 hits and drove in a run for the Tigers. Purnell also picked up the win with 5 shutout innings on the mound.

#2 Danville 13, East Jessamine 1
Logan Smothers went 2-for-3 with a double, HR, and 3 RBI, Preston Barnes doubled twice, Sam Mattherly homered and drove in 2 runs, and Brady Baxter homered and had 3 RBI. Brady Morse picked up the win on the mound with 7 K’s in 4 IP.

#3 Trinity 12, Highlands Latin 2
Paul Osting went 2-for-3 with a HR and 2 RBI, Korbyn Dickerson went 2-for-3 with a double, triple, and 2 RBI, Matt Klein went 2-for-3 with a triple and 2 RBI, Thomas Nettles went 2-for-3 with a double and 2 RBI, and Jake Schweitzer went 2-for-3 with a RBI in the Trinity win. Tyce Powers worked 2.2 scoreless innings for the win on the mound.

#4 Frederick Douglass 6, #22 Tates Creek 5
Ty Bryant 2-for-5 with a double and 2 RBI, and Jeremiah Lowe went 3-for-5 with 2 RBI as Douglass scored twice in the bottom of the 9th for the walk-off win. Matthew Persinger doubled and tripled, and Isaac Tencza and Braxton Brinegar each had 3 hits in the Tates Creek loss.

#13 Henry Clay 10, Boyle Co 2
Joey Howard went 2-for-3 with a double, triple, and 3 RBI, Tyler Banks went 2-for-3 with a double and 3 RBI, and Ben Taylor collected 2 hits and a RBI in the win. Chardy Tierney allowed 1 earned run with 7 K’s in 5 IP for the win on the mound.

CAL 8, #18 Oldham Co 0
Michael Lynch went 3-for- with a HR and 4 RBI to power CAL past Oldham County. Jack Perdue tossed a complete game 3-hit shutout with 9 K’s.

#19 Sayre 5, Paul Laurence Dunbar 4

#20 Central Hardin 17, Glasgow 7
Zakery Spurrier launched 2 HR’s and drove in 5, Lucas Lee doubled twice and had 2 RBI, and Raymond Goodman went 3-for4 with 2 doubles and a RBI to lead the Central Hardin offense. Easton Jessie and Weston Carroll both homered in the Glasgow loss.

#23 Russell Co 10, Somerset 7
Trace Stringer homered and drove in 4 runs, Nathan Lawson went 2-for-4 with a double and 2 RBI, and Mayes Gosser went 2-for-2 with a RBI in the win. Nick Aaron worked 5.1 innings allowing 3 hits and 1 run with 7 K;s for the victory.

Nicholas Co 13, Morgan Co 0
Brayson Ring went 3-for-3 with 2 doubles and a RBI, Tate Letcher went 2-for-3 with 2 RBI, and Branson Sosby drove in 3 runs. Ring also struck out 7 over 3 innings to pick up the win.

Hazard 9, Johnson Central 4
Hank Pelfrey went 2-for-4 with a double and 2 RBI, Sawyer Patrick went 2-for-3 with 3 RBI, and Max Johnson tripled and drove in a run for Hazard. Gus Mullins allowed 2 runs over 4 innings to pick up the win.

Wayne Co 9, Clinton Co 4
Andrew Brammer and Renan Dobbs each had 2 hits, and Cory Brown doubled and drove in 2 runs in the victory. Dylan Tucker picked up the win allowing 1 run over 3.2 innings of relief with 4 K’s.

Russell 10, West Carter 0
RJ Rigsby went 2-for-3 with a double, HR and 2 RBI, Brayden Hartman went 2-for-2 with a double and RBI, Adien Sammons went 2-for-3 with a double and 2 RBI, and Parker Mitchell went 2-for-2 with 2 RBI. JK McKnight fired 4 shutout innings with 8 K’s for the win.

Pulaski Co 5, Corbin 4
Mason Acton went 3-for-4 with a double, triple, and RBI, and Jace Frye went 3-for-4 with a triple and RBI to lead the Pulaski attack.

Collins 12, Owen Co 2
Logan Parker homered and drove in 3 runs, Daniel Elmore doubled and had 3 RBI, and Caleb Bailey doubled and had 2 RBI in the rout. Donavin Carroll racked up 9 K’s in 3 innings to pick up the win.

Scott Co 6, Lexington Catholic 5
Joseph Garrison worked 5.2 strong innings allowing just 3 hits and 1 earned run with 6 K’s to pick up the win for Scott County.

St. Henry 13, Scott 3
Sam Martin went 3-for-3 with 2 doubles and a RBI, Luke Mason tripled and drove in 4 runs, and Carter Scheben went 2-for-2 with a double in the St. Henry rout. Clay Duckworth picked up the win working 4 innings with 6 K’s and 3 runs allowed.

Ryle 9, Walton Verona 6
Caleb Mann drove in 3 runs, and Brayden Stewart doubled and had a RBI in the Ryle win. Josh Furtado worked 5 strong innings allowing 2 runs with 8 K’s.

Mercer Co 2, Woodford Co 1
Aaron Caton went 2-for-2 with a double, HR, and drove in both Mercer County runs, and Evan Hart allowed 1 run with 7 K’s over 4 innings to pick up the win.

Fern Creek 3, Anderson Co 1
Ezra Yi homered, and Colin Autry doubled and drove in a run in the one-run win. Bradley Jones allowed just 2 hits and 1 run with 5 K’s over 6 IP to pick up the victory.

Elizabethtown 6, Bullitt Central 3
Greyson Hainer drove in 3 runs, and Hendrix Thomas allowed 1 earned run and struck out 7 over 5.1 innings to record the win.

Marion Co 3, Bethlehem 0
Keaton Spaulding and Moises Davenport each doubled and drove in a run, and Brady Hutchins fired 6 shutout innings allowing just 1 hit with 10 K’s to pick up the win.

PRP 11, North Hardin 0
Brennan Keen went 2-for-3 with 4 RBI, and Cooper Burkhart went 2-for-2 with a triple and 3 RBI to lead the PRP offense. Luke Embry pitched 3 shutout innings with 4 K’s for the win.
