MD Unsigned Senior Games Spotlight: LJ Drummond

PBR Maryland held the 2023 MD Unsigned Senior Games at Joe Cannon Stadium on August 8th. Players were put through a pro-style workout that included BP on the field, defense and a 60-yard dash. Following the workout, players participated in a simulated game that included live AB's. Players also received industry leading data provided by TrackMan, Blast Motion, Vizual Edge and Swift Performance during the event.

Lonzo Drummond IV LHP / LHP / Northeast, MD / 2024A player that is quickly rising through the 2024 class, Drummond certainly opened a ton of eyes on the bump. A lean 6-foot-1, 160 pound frame, the southpaw really started to gain traction towards the backend of the Spring and showed flashes of an arm that could become very special. Fast forward a few months, and we see everything starting to come together; not only from a pitchability standpoint, but a maturity and makeup side as well. It's an up-tempo operation, working with intent and quick arm action through release. The fastball is impressive and has increasingly shown an up-tick in velo, now in the mid to upper 80's range with plenty more in the tank. The feel for the heater is present, working it to both sides from a slight cross-body delivery, adding to the deception and athleticism. Featuring two separate breaking balls, the curveball has the makeup to be plus in the near future, working it down in the zone with tight shape in the mid 70's and up to 2,674 rpm. The slider shows more of a shorter shape in the upper 70's and is still developing feel, however plays well off the bigger curveball for a different look. A changeup is also featured sparingly and shows extreme promise when down in the zone. A starter profile with an exciting future, especially seeing the projection and ability to mature into the frame.
