Last week, Major League baseball held an abbreviated Rule Four amateur draft, and unfortunately no players from Virginia or DC high schools were selected, either directly from high school or from the college ranks.

Today, we want to take a way-too-early look at players that are strong candidates to be in the mix to be drafted in 2021. Obviously, a lot can happen in a year, so this list will undoubtedly include players that don't get selected in the draft, and will also inevitably leave off players who make significant jumps and end up getting selected. Another factor in looking into next year is that MLB can shorten the draft again, as it did this year, shrinking it from the standard forty rounds to just five in 2020. MLB has not announced how many rounds it will have next year, but they can and likely will shorten the draft again.

Without further blabbering or ado, here are current amateur players from Virginia or DC high schools who should be on pro scouts' follow lists this summer in preparation for the 2021 Draft:
