The Prep Baseball Report MN Top Prospect Games event took place on Monday and Tuesday, June 18 & 19, 2018. The event was held at Veteran's Field at Minnetonka High School in Minnetonka, MN. The event featured prospects from the 2019 grad class; and included many breakout performances from this year's participants. Players showcased their talents in front of our scouting staff and 68 college coaches in attendance.

There were a number of great individual performances this year at the MN Top Prospect Games.

As we drill down into the statistics:

+ 22 players recorded 80+ mph infield throws

Brennan Albert, OF/RHP, Wayzata, 2019
6-foot, 180-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. #81 ranked player in MN 2019 class. 7.07 runner. Physical frame, active hand rhythm, longer swing, flashes pop in bat, line drive and flyball hitter, mid/pull approach, 87 mph exit velocity. Solid defender, works through ball, stiffer ¾ arm slot, avg. carry and accuracy to target, 80 mph arm from outfield. On mound; short rocker step into athletic high tuck and turn, avg. use of lower half, upright on release, with hard recoil. Fastball was 78-81 mph with flashes of arm-side running action. 11/5 curveball has small shape and break.

William Anderson, LHP, St. Michael-Albertville, 2019
6-foot, 180-pound left-handed pitcher. #7 ranked player in MN 2019 class. Shows tempo and rhythm in delivery, athletic balance point, aggressive down mound with good arm speed, has extension to plate. Fastball was 85-86 mph with late arm-side life. Shows ability to land hard cutter/slider for strikes consistently and has quality depth. Changeup is avg. currently but should continue to improve because of arm speed and athleticism on mound.

Blake Ask, RHP/3B, Wayzata, 2019
6-foot, 185-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. #131 ranked player in MN 2019 class. On mound; uptempo delivery, high tuck and turn, works inline with catcher, clean compact arm action with solid hand speed. Fastball was 80-83 mph, straight, but jumps on hitter late. Inconsistent breaking ball with loose spin and 11/5 shape. 7.2 runner. Body load, some hand rhythm, gets stuck on backside, line drive swing plane, occasional lift, gap to gap approach, 82 mph exit velocity. Avg. footwork in field, sure hands, long release on throws, accurate to bag, 79 mph arm strength across infield.

Patrick Barrett, 1B/RHP, Holy Family, 2019

Brady Bean, RHP, Farmington, 2019
6-foot-3, 190-pound right-handed pitcher. #99 ranked player in MN 2019 class. Taller athletic frame, short crouched balance point, compact arm action, clean out front, solid extension and finish to plate. Fastball was 82-84 mph, sneaky quick, with heavy feel on end for strikes. Has sharp late break on curveball with quality 11/5 shape.

Duke Benge, 2B/RHP, Lakeville South, 2019
5-foot-10, 180-pound switch hitting 2-way player. #114 ranked player in MN 2019 class. 7.16 runner. Balanced from left-hand side, double tap trigger, clean path, mid/pull approach; choppier rhythm on right-side, uphill, flyball hitter, pull approach, 88 mph exit velocity. Solid footwork, avg. hands, makes routine play, accurate arm, plays with energy, 79 mph arm strength across infield. On mound; mixes tempo and creates deception in delivery. Fastball was 79-82 mph and 2-seam has above avg. life with running action. Has tight spin on both curveball and slider and each have late break. Solid hand speed on changeup with late run and sink.

Matthew Bergom, LHP/OF, Eagan, 2019

Ben Borrman, RHP, Stillwater, 2019
5-foot-10, 165-pound right-handed pitcher. Rocker step into higher tuck and turn balance point, long sideways arm path behind body, shows good extension and has hand quickness out front. Fastball was 85-86 mph with flashes of life and varying action. Clean arm action with fastball arm speed on changeup. Slider has small shape with avg. break.

Hayden Brown, 1B/LHP, Rochester Lourdes, 2019
6-foot-3, 190-pound left-handed hitting 2-way player. #91 ranked player in MN 2019 class. 6.85 runner. Body load, short to contact, avg. use of lower half, pull approach, line drive and ground ball hitter, 93 mph exit velocity. Active feet, works through ball, solid actions and comfortable around bag, 80 mph arm strength across infield. On mound; slower controlled tempo, clean compact arm action, solid extension to plate. Rocker step into lower crouched tuck and turn, clean arm action from ¾ slot, lands slightly across body and has extension to plate. Fastball was 77-79 mph, easy effort, with varying action to plate. Lands breaking ball consistently with quality 11/5 shape and solid depth. Avg. feel for changeup, firm, with occasional cut action.

Caiden Bruns, 3B/RHP, Rochester Lourdes, 2019
6-foot-3, 215-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. #48 ranked player in MN 2019 class. 7.45 runner. Easy body load, present strength, flashes pop in bat with gap to gap approach, consistent hard contact, 88 mph exit velocity. Solid footwork, soft glove, works through ball, has tempo and rhythm to field, accurate arm, 84 mph arm strength across infield. On mound; good tempo into controlled balance point, short arm action on backside and comes out clean in front, ¾ arm slot, has solid extension and finish to plate. Fastball was 73-74 mph with running action to plate. Throws a 2/8 breaking ball and changeup was straight. 7.58 runner. Jack Clawson, RHP, Eden Prairie, 2019
6-foot-1, 195-pound right-handed pitcher. #138 ranked player in MN 2019 class. Durable build, higher balance point, works inline to catcher, compact arm action with extension and finish out front. Fastball was 756-79 mph, slight downhill, with heavier feel in bottom of zone. Larger shape on 11/5 breaking ball with ability to land for strikes. Average command of fastball at 75-77 mph with varying action to plate. Lands breaking ball consistently with loose spin and large shape and break. 6-foot-3, 175-pound right-handed pitcher. #45 ranked player in MN 2019 class. Thin wiry frame. Has tempo in to slight tuck and turn balance point, works up and over front side, quick arm out front, whippy arm action at times. Has life on fastball at 84-86 mph with inconsistent release point and command. Sharp break on 11/5 curveball with tight spin. Above avg. action on changeup; thrown at fastball arm speed.

Cameron Hunter, 1B/RHP, East Ridge, 2019
6-foot, 210-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. #22 ranked player in MN 2019 class. 7.7 runner. Pre-set load, balanced in box, mid/pull approach, shows pop in bat to gaps, 97 mph exit velocity. Above avg. arm for position, sure hands, handles position well, comfortable around bag, 83 mph arm strength across infield. On mound; longer rocker step into balance point, repeats delivery well, clean compact arm action with slight wrap on back-side, has extension out front with finish. Fastball was 84-86 mph from H ¾ slot; varying action and 2-seam has late running action. 11/5 curveball has tight spin, inconsistent release point, but flashes potential as solid secondary offering. Has feel for changeup, solid fade, and is thrown for strikes.

Zachary Jakubowsky, LHP, Farmington, 2019
6-foot-1, 190-pound left-handed pitcher. #106 ranked player in MN 2019 class. Controlled tempo in medium balance point, ¾ slot, turns ball over on release, lands inline to catcher. Fastball was 78-82 mph with quality run and sink action away from RHH. Sweeping break on 2/8 curveball for strikes. Shows run and sink on changeup.

Korey Johnson, 3B/RHP, Glencoe-Silver Lake, 2019
6-foot-1, 195-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. 7.46 runner. Double tap trigger, solid bat speed, line drive swing plane, works middle of field, 88 mph exit velocity. Tends to field flat footed, avg. glove and arm, makes routine plays, 67 mph arm strength across infield. On mound; quick tempo, strides open to plate, funky arm action, falls off to first base side. Fastball was 76-78 mph with varying action to plate. Lands 12/6 breaking ball well for strikes and has feel for pitch. Heavy changeup with good feel for bottom of zone as well. 

Wesley Kemming, RHP, Lakeville North, 2019
6-foot-1, 175-pound right-handed pitcher. #112 ranked player in MN 2019 class. Simple turn into medium balance, leans back occasionally, clean arm action, underneath at release, solid extension and finish to plate. Fastball was 78-80 mph with varying action to the plate. Small shape with tight spin and late break on 11/5 curveball. Above avg. fade and sink on changeup for strikes.

Jeremy Klick, RHP/2B, Maple Grove, 2019
6-foot-2, 170-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. #124 ranked player in MN 2019 class. On mound; rocker step into athletic balance point, high ¾ slot, lands inline to catcher, clean repeatable arm action. Fastball was 78-80 mph, comes out of hand cleanly, with late arm-side run. Cameron Kramer, RHP/SS, Anoka, 2019
6-foot-6, 165-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. Tall lean frame, rocker step into high athletic balance point, lands inline to catcher, shorter arm action on back-side and clean out front. Fastball was 81-84 mph with late arm-side run to plate. 11/5 curveball has early slow rolling break to plate. Above avg. fade and sink on changeup thrown at fastball arm speed. Athletic on mound and is interesting follow with continued development.

Jace Kressin, LHP, Menomonie (WI), 2019
6-foot-3, 170-pound left-handed pitcher. #34 ranked player in WI 2019 class. Backwards step and rolls up into balance point, clean ¾ arm slot with above avg. hand speed. Overall mechanics are raw but pure stuff on mound is interesting. Fastball had well above avg. life with late running action at 83-85 mph. Slurvy breaking ball has late break and tight spin.

Erik Kubiatowiczs, RHP/1B, North St. Paul, 2019
6-foot-3, 212-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. Physical athletic frame. On mound; rocker step, solid tempo, controlled balance point, long clean arm action, has extension and finish to plate. Hides ball from hitter well. Fastball was 85-89 mph, mostly straight, with occasional slight running action. Tight spin with sharp break on 11/5 curveball. 6.71 runner. Matthew Lidenberg, LHP, Eden Prairie, 2019

Tate Meiners, SS/RHP, Caledonia, 2019
5-foot-11, 180-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. #86 ranked player in MN 2019 class. 7.14 runner. Square stance, body load, drops hand slot, flat swing plane, flashes of hard line drive contact, 92 mph exit velocity.
