2018 RHP Kohl Simas (Clovis West HS-Fresno, CA) has been named this week’s Prep Baseball Report Northern California Player of the Week due to his standout performance on 3/23/18 vs Buchanan HS.

As two of the Central Valley's top teams hooked up, the burly 6-foot-2 210-pound Simas did a lot of the heavy lifting on his own for PBR's #7 ranked team in California. Buchanan is one of the more talented offensive teams in the state yet the senior right-hander not only held them at bay, he also helped his own cause with the bat.

Simas tossed 5 innings, allowing 1 earned run, struck out four, and allowed only two hits. Keeping down the powerful Bears offense was a good thing, as was hitting a 2-run homer in the first inning, which helped get the Golden Eagles off to a 4-0 lead after the top of the first. He later added a triple and finished the day 2-for-4, with 2 RBI, 3 runs scored, and the two big extra base hits.

As a three-year starter, Simas was expected to carry a heavy load this season for CW, and he has not disappointed. His performance moved his record to a stellar 4-1, with a 1.22 ERA, along with 39 strikeouts in 28.2 innings pitched.

For his efforts, Simas has been named the Prep Baseball Report NorCal Player of the Week for the week of March 19-25.

The Prep Baseball Report salutes Kohl Simas’ hard work and success for the Clovis West Golden Eagles.
