OKLAHOMA PLAYER OF THE WEEK

It was another week full of impressive performances for Oklahoma high school baseball with more than a few players being deserving of the Player Of The Week title. The most outstanding performance this week though, came from uncommitted 2019 RHP/3B Hayden Minton from Collinsville. He was solid at the plate and tossed a no-hitter against a solid offensive club.

Hayden Minton RHP / 3B / Collinsville, OK / 2019

A long and lean 6-foot-3, 170-pound frame with plenty of room to add size and strength. The right-hander tossed a run rule shortened no-hitter against a good Durant offence. Minton stuck out eight in his five inning and walked two. Offensively, the left-handed hitter was also 4-for-8 on the week with two doubles and four RBIs.

 

 

Player Of The Week By Class

6A

Logan Glass OF / RHP / Mustang, OK / 2019

A 6-foot-4, 198-pound long and athletic frame with strength. The right-handed hitter went 9-for-17 (.529) with two doubles, a triple, and two home runs including a grad slam, racking up seven RIBs and seven runs scored. The right-hander also tossed four innings without allowing a hit.

Justin Dunlap, SS/2B, Metro Christian, 2019
A 5-foot-11, 160-pound frame. The right-handed hitter went 11-for-18 (.611) last week.  Of his 11 hits, Dunlap had three doubles, three triples, and a home run to help rack up seven RBIs and nine runs scored. 
3A
Cade Buchanan, 3B, Durant HS, 2019
In a week chalk full of outstanding performances in the 3A class, it was Buchanan edged out his peers. Also a quarterback on the football team, Buchanan stands an impressive 6-foot-3, 215-pound. In four games last week, the right-handed hitter went 9-for-13 (.692) with five doubles, 11 RBIs, and four runs scored.

Brooks Red 1B / 3B / Arapaho Butler, OK / 2018

The Garden City CC commit has a 6-foot-2 220-pound frame with strength through out. In wins over Seiling and two wins over #12 in 2A Minco Brooks went 6-for-9 (.667) with a double, two home runs, and six RBIs. The right-handed also earned the win on the mound in the finals.

 

 

Honorable Mentions

Brody Bouher, 1B, Wagoner HS, 2021
The young first baseman went 7-for-12 (.583) with five doubles, five RBIs, four runs scored, and two stolen bases in the Gulf Shores Alabama Tournament. 

Jordan Compton SS / RHP / Carl Albert , OK / 2018

The Oklahoma Wesleyan commit went 5-for-7 with two doubles in Florida. 

 

 

Dalton DeBaud OF / RHP / Yukon , OK / 2018

A 6-foot-1, 180-pound frame with some strength. Offensively, the right-handed hitter batted .533 last week with four doubles, a home run, five RBIs, and six runs scored.

 

 


Cole Embrey OF / OF / Mustang, OK / 2018

Only narrowly outdone by his teammate for the 6A player of the week, the Pittsburg State commit had a career week at the plate. The left-handed hitter went 10-for-15 (.667) with a double, eight RBIs, and five runs scored. 

 

 


Mathew Erwin 1B / Oktaha, OK / 2018

A physical 6-foot-1, 200-pound frame with with broad shoulders and strength throughout. The right-handed hitter went 11-for-117 (.647 BA) with three doubles, a triple, nine RBIs and seven runs scored. Erwin is committer to Connors State. 

 

 


Austin Gilley 1B, Marlow HS, 2018

A 6-foot, 235-pound frame. The right-handed hitter batted .634 with a double, six RBIs, and an OPB of .722. last week.

Tanner Ladon, 3B, Marlow HS, 2018
The Southern Nazarene University commit has a  5-foot-10, 150-pound frame. The right-handed hitter batted .667 over spring break with five doubles, a home run, and eight RBIs with an OBP of .750.

Trace Maddox, INF/RHP Canute HS, 2019
The uncommitted junior put up impressive numbers on both sides of the ball this week. Offensively the right-handed hitter went 5-for-11 (.455) with two doubles, three home runs, and eight RBIs. More impressive is what he did on the mound, striking out 10 without allowing a walk to earn the win. 

 

 

Payton Miller C / RHP / Yukon, OK / 2019

A 6-foot-2, 225-pound frame. On the mound, the big righty went 7.1 inn allowing just two runs on four hits while striking out six and walking three to earn a win. Millers pitching performance helped the Millers finish third in the Best of the West Tournament in Phoenix.

 

 

 

 

Jack Pritchard RHP / OF / Yukon , OK / 2018

A Cowley County commit. Know more for a quick fastball, Pritchard was dialed in at the plate last week, batting .533 with three doubles, two home runs, seven RBI’s and four runs scored.  

 

 

 

 

Jake Robbins RHP / Oktaha, OK / 2018

A big and durable 6-foot-3, 245-pound frame. In a week full of outstanding offensive performances, Ribbins may have had the most impressive outing on the mound. The right-handed tossed 10 innings of a game that went 13,  allowing just one earned run on two hits while striking out an eye popping 17 batters and only walking two.
