Ohio Spotlight Game: #32 Olentangy Liberty vs Dublin Coffman

In a OCC battle, both runs and hits were at a premium as Olentangy Liberty would prevail by beating Dublin Coffman 4-0.

The Patriots scored their first run in the second in inning when Corey Mayer led off with a double to the right field gap. He would later score on a single by Ryan Hoffman.

After a scoreless third, Liberty would add to their lead when Mayer and Mason Groves (Winthrop commit) singled. Both would come around to score off of a botched suicide squeeze by Coffman. The lead had then expanded to 3-0.

Sophomore, Mitch Milheim, kept the Coffman batters off balance to start the game. The Rocks were hitless for the first 4 innings of the game.

Liberty would tack on another run in the fifth when Spencer Yankle (Oakland commit) singled and would later come around to score off the bat of a Groves hit.

With a no-hitter through six innings, southpaw Milheim would give up his first hit in the seventh to Brandon Derifield. Milheim would regain his poise and set down the rest of the Rocks to complete the 4-0 shutout.

Liberty improved their record to 18-3 and they will square off with Thomas Worthington next week for a two game set for an outright OCC title. Coffman’s record fell to 9-11.
