Scouting Report
Murphy is a strong, physical, well proportioned 6-foot-3, 210-pound prospect with a sturdy build and muscular frame. The right-hander had a jump in his velocity this year, touching 89 mph with his fastball while working mostly in the 85-88 mph range for most of his outings. A three pitch guy with one of the better changeups in the province, Murphy works out of a high-¾ slot that creates downward angles, utilizes his lower half well and is at his best when repeating his delivery and using his complete repertoire. He spins the curveball well with close to 12/6 shape with depth, keeping the opposition off balance and working out the same release point. Murphy has continued to show upside and improvements over the last few years and will look to step in and contribute early on to ETSU of the Southern Conference.
