Ontario Spotlight Game: Ontario Terriers vs Ontario Yankees - Doubleheader

Game 1:

An early riser game between the 18u Ontario Terriers and the 18u Ontario Yankees. The game started as a pitcher's duel as the Yankees Jonathan Henry and the Terriers Ben Abram were matching each other pitch for pitch.

In the top of the first the Yankees center fielder Noah London laid out in the left center gap for a beautiful diving grab, robbing Ryan O’Halloran and keeping the score at zero’s early on.

Abram looked sharp as he had 5 strikeouts through the first 2 innings.

The Yankee's would get to Abram in the 3rd with an RBI single off the bat of London, scoring Brent McGhee who started of the rally with a one out single.

Henry was cruising through the game until the top of the 5th when the Terriers exploded for 5 runs with RBIs coming from Connor Humphrey, O'Halloran, and Jeremie Vielleux, who started the scoring with an RBI double.

The Yankees weren't going to go down that easy, and came back in the 6th and scored 3 runs with RBI's from Tyler Monks and Marcus Pronay.

In the bottom of the 7th, down by 1, Yankees catcher and Northwestern Ohio commit Kyle Bryan hits a RBI single to tie the game.

In extras, the Yankees reliever Langston Antony continued to dominate with his 3rd inning allowing no runs and in the bottom half, Aiden Colangelo hit a walk off RBI single to give the Yankees the games 1 win.

Game 2:

Unlike game 1 of this matchup, the offence was in full force. In the top of the first the Terriers took an early lead after a sac fly by O’Halloran scored Connor Humphrey.

The Terriers starting pitcher, Evan Elliott, got in a grove early retiring the first 6 batters he faced and striking out 3. After the Terriers tacked on 2 more runs in the second, the Yankees got to the Terriers starter and tagged him for 3 runs with RBIs coming from Bryan and Colangelo.

After putting up a 3 up 3 down, the Yankees got a run back courtesy of Tyron James to take their first lead of the game. In the fifth, the Terriers had the bats grooving, scoring 5 runs, including a homerun by Veilleux and RBIs from Nick Parsons and Humphrey’s.

The Yankees would answer back with 2 of their own, but it wasn’t enough to come back as the Terriers tacked on 2 more runs in the 6th to take the 10-6 victory.
