After a full spring of coverage with our boots on the ground, scouring the country from coast-to-coast for players, the 2022 Overall Rankings updates with an expansion to 200 players. Thanks to the efforts of our unparalleled scouting department, more than 100 additional players have been identified as ones to follow over the next few years.

Still quite early in the developmental stages of their baseball careers, each of the players listed showcases more promise than polish, but judging by the tool sets that they have displayed, there is plenty to be excited about for the future. There will certainly be many new players that join the ranks in coming years, and PBR is dedicated to continuing to discover, scout, and evaluate each one.

OF Ryan Clifford (Leesville Road HS, NC) remains the top prospect in the class. Advanced in his approach at the plate, he has handled elite, upper-class pitching with ease, exhibiting the ability to drive the ball to all fields with authority. Still filling out physically, the left-handed hitter has a high ceiling, and given his athleticism could make a significant jump over the next few years.

Ryan Clifford (September 2018)

Moving into the second slot is the top player in talent-rich Florida, LHP Brandon Barriera (Westminster Academy, FL). Equipped with a whippy-arm that runs fastballs up to 91 mph, the 6-foot, 160-pound southpaw athletically works through a clean delivery that allows him to find a consistent 3/4 slot with some arm-side life. His sharp breaking ball has the makings of a swing-and-miss offering, and he also mixes in a fading changeup. Still exhibiting room for growth, Barriera looks the part of an elite pitching prospect early on in his high school career.

Brandon Barriera (January 2019)

Occupying the third position is projectable RHP Dylan Lesko (Buford, GA). The 6-foot-2, 170-pound right-hander is impressively polished for his age, and should only get better as his broad-shouldered, and athletic frame continues filling out. He features three advanced pitches including an 88-90 fastball, sharp slider in the mid 70s, and perhaps the top secondary pitch in the entire class in his changeup, which sits 77-79. Lesko looks every bit the part of a future starter, and his loose, quick arm will only continue getting stronger. He did not shy away from big moments throughout the spring, and his competitiveness will likely fuel his continued progress.

Dylan Lesko (February 2019)

At No. 4 is C Luke Davis (Cypress HS, CA), a Southern California recruit, who torched the top high school division in the country all season in leading Cypress to a CIF Southern Section title. The switch-hitting catcher possesses an impressive ability to drive the ball in the air with present power. Also gifted on the mound, Davis’ future is likely behind the dish where the arm strength carries over. Above all else, his advanced feel for the barrel, and ability to maintain it in the zone for a long period of time stands out right now, and should only allow for quick advancements the next few years.

A trio of Georgia products are featured prominently in the top 10 with the dynamic IF Termarr Johnson (Mays HS, GA) at No. 5, the athletic OF Andruw Jones (Wesleyan HS, GA) at No. 8, and the imposing, power-armed RHP Riley Stanford (Buford HS, GA), who has been up into the mid 90s, at No. 9. They are just four of 18 players from the state that are featured in the top 200.

At No. 6 is OF Elijah Green (Windermere HS, FL), a Miami recruit, whose physicality and athleticism is advanced for the class. He is joined in the top 10 by 3B Sal Stewart (Westminster Christian HS, FL), a Vanderbilt recruit, at No. 10. Stewart is already starting to prove himself as one of the top pure-hitters in the class.

The final member of the top 10 is RHP Matthew Porchas (Santa Margarita HS, CA) who moves up to No. 7. His electric arm whips fastballs up to 92 mph to go with a sharp, 73-75 breaking ball. He sports a projectable, 6-foot-3, 180-pound frame with some wiry athleticism, and aggressively attacks hitters.
