Oxford, MS - The Oxford Open was held on Wednesday, May 31st at the The Farm (Athletic Performance Center) in Oxford, MS. This event was an open event that consisted of some of the top prospects from the 2024-2028 classes in the northern parts of Mississippi. These players went through extended pro-style workout that included batting practice using Trackman, ran the 60 yard dash using Swift Performance, and much more. Pitchers were able to throw in simulated bullpens during the workout and were able to get numbers and metrics. There were some players who showed up and continued to build off of prior performances, but there were also some new names who jumped onto our radar with a strong showing on Wednesday.

James Fenton, Houston (TN), 2024
Positional Profile: OF/RHP
Body: 5-10, 160-pounds. Lean, athletic frame
Hit: RHH. Balanced stance with relaxed hand set Controlled load with knee lift. Uses a line drive approach with a level bat path and quick hands. 62.3 mph bat speed with 14 G’s of rotational acceleration.
Power: 86 max exit velocity, averaged 78.0 mph. 311' max distance.
Arm: RH. OF-86 mph. Long arm action
Defense: Solid footwork in the outfield. Easily approaches ground balls. Fields out front to glove side to allow for a quick transfer and strong throw.

Hit:LHH. Balanced stance with relaxed hand set. Easy load and stride. Hands separate well into stride. Works up the middle to pull side with a good line drive approach. 70.2 mph bat speed with 9 G’s of rotational acceleration.

Hit:RHH. Balanced, open stance with slightly higher handset. Controlled load and stride with a knee lift. Attacks ball out front with a level bat path for a line drive approach. Works middle to pull side. 67.4 mph bat speed with 14 G’s of rotational acceleration.
