TEXAS, USA - The High School Baseball season is in full swing in Texas with the end of tournament season, and the start of district play. Remaining in the Number 1 spot for the fourth straight week is Lake Travis. The Cavaliers are now 16-0, 5-0 in district after winning two games against Austin Westake, 3-0 and 10-0.

Updated 3/26/18

Prev Rank Team Class  Record
1 1 Lake Travis 6A 16-0
3 2 Southlake Carroll 6A 16-3
4 3 Sweeny 4A 18-1
2 4 Reagan 6A 18-4
15 5 Frenship 6A 19-3

There are some noticeable changes to the rankings, several teams having tough weeks, while others are starting to roll.

The Top 5

+ Southlake Carroll: The Dragons move up a spot to No. 2 after going 3-0 with two district wins over Trinity and a non-district win over Frisco Wakeland.

+ Sweeny: The Bulldogs resume speaks for itself, they are the highest ranked non-6A school in our rankings for a reason. They went 2-0 last week and scored 24 runs in two games.

+ San Antonio Reagan: The Rattlers move down a couple of spots after going 1-1 last week, including a loss to San Antonio Johnson 2-0.

+ Taking a huge jump this week, going from 15 to 5, is Wolfforth Frenship. The Tigers brought their overall record to 19-3 with three wins over Midland Lee, Midland, and Lubbock Monterey.

ON THE RISE

+ Coppell: We keep including the Cowboys in this segment, and they keep winning. Coppell is now 16-3-1 after going 2-0 against Richardson Pearce by a combined score of 14-2.

+ Argyle: The Eagles are now 16-0 with an offense that can put up a lot of runs. They have yet to play a conference game, but with the talent in the lineup, these guys could keep up with a lot of bigger schools.

+ Cleburne: The Yellowjackets moved up 8 spots to No. 12 after winning 3 games last week, including 2 district games to bring their district record to 4-0.

+ Rockwall-Heath: The Hawks come back into the ranking after beating their crosstown rival Rockwall twice last week, 3-1, and 7-2.

NEW TEAMS

+ Smithson Valley enters the ranking for the first time at No. 24 after winning two games last week, moving to 16-3 Overall, and 5-0 district. Two of their losses are to No. 1 Lake Travis, and No. 4 Reagan.

+ Keller: The Indians are not technically new, but they are back after going 4-0 in District and 3-0 last week, including a non-district win over Flower Mound on Saturday.

ON THE BUBBLE

Now it gets tough, with strength of district, and early season contests having a much larger impact. Many teams play more games in three weeks of tournaments, than they do the rest of the season. So, teams that play in tougher districts have a better chance of moving up, and into the rankings as their quality wins tally up. A number of factors come into play, most importantly, strength of schedule, district and non-district.

+ Godley: They are undefeated at 13-0, if they keep winning, they have a strong chance of getting in.

+ Klein Collins went 1-1 last week, splitting with Memorial. But we will keep a close eye on these guys because of the high end talent on the mound, and on the infield.

+ Boerne Champion: The Chargers are now 17-3 and have been overlooked a bit. They are not 4-1 in district with a nice 11-5 win over Kerrville Tivy, but they did drop a game to Dripping Springs 9-0.

+ Katy Tompkins: They play in a tough league and are now 4-0 in district after going 2-0.

+ Midlothian Heritage: The Jaguars are now 12-3 after winning 12 of 13 since starting 0-2 this season. They scored 27 runs last week.

+ San Antonio Johnson: Went 3-0 last week to bring their record to 15-4, including a huge win over Reagan 2-0.

+ Allen: The Eagles are now 4-0 in District, 14-5 Overall.

+ Plano: The Wildcats have a powerful lineup and two solid starters. They are 3-1 in district with a 12-6 Overall record.
