Prep Baseball Report, Vizual Edge extend partnership, expand testing

By PBR Staff

Earlier this summer, Prep Baseball Report and Vizual Edge agreed to extend their partnership, keeping the market leader in vision training as the official vision evaluation and training technology of Prep Baseball Report. Since the partnership started in 2020, over 17,000 Vizual Edge assessments have been completed by athletes across the country at various PBR events.

Each year, more PBR states have added the Vizual Edge baseline test to their testing rotation, making it a staple of the elite PBR tech included at each event. Now with Vizual Edge’s pledge to provide additional testing devices to each state, the testing capacity can continue to improve to help maximize athlete experience and enhance the overall efficiency of each event. Players will continue to have their Edge Score posted on their personal PBR player profile, making the test results more accessible to players, parents, coaches and scouts.

“We’re excited to continue our partnership withPBR over the coming years, and further educate young players about the importance of vision in baseball and provide exposure to the same cutting-edge technology used by the pros,” said Alex Kikos, CEO of Vizual Edge.

"Vizual Edge has been a great partner and provided valuable feedback to thousands of athletes that have taken the assessment," said Cullen McGowan, Prep Baseball Report Managing Director. "It's difficult to find technology that provides actionable and digestible feedback within 15 minutes, Vizual Edge does a terrific job at both. "Hitting training is becoming more scientific and Vizual Edge is one of the first tools I recommend. Training one's ability to anticipate, react and focus on incoming objects can make a big difference in a player's career."

The Vizual Edge visual skills assessment is viewable within a player’s own PBR profile, labeled as their Edge Score. The Edge Score is a comprehensive score out of 100 that takes the core-six visual skills into account, providing athletes, parents, coaches and scouts with a benchmark number for assessing an athlete’s overall visual ability. In general the higher the Edge Score, the higher chance of athletic success.

“Our goal is to continue to establish vision as the ‘sixth tool’ in hitting," said Casey Leister, a former Division I baseball coach who is now the director of baseball at Vizual Edge. “Helping players recognize where they can improve from a visual processing perspective, train those deficiencies right from home, and allow them to become the best version of themselves is what we’re all about here at Vizual Edge.”

Vizual Edge and staff will also be in attendance for marquee Prep Baseball Report events each year including the Super 60 Pro Showcase, Future Games, and the inaugural 2023 All-American Game on Saturday, Sept. 23, in Milwaukee at American Family Field.

IMPROVING SCORES & PERFORMANCE AT HOME

Regardless of where a player’s visual processing skills and scores are at today, there is always room for improvement. Just like muscles in the body, your vision is a trainable skill that can be done right from home using the Edge Trainer. It is designed to improve each of these skills in just 15 minutes and can help players boost their Edge Score prior to their next PBR event.
