Preseason Classic: Spruce Creek v Westminster Christian - MVP Zack Bennett

Day 2 of the 2020 Preseason Classic kicked off with a high-powered matchup between Spruce Creek and Westminster Christian. The matchup everyone came to see was Victor Mederos vs. Zac Veen. Mederos was up to 97 mph with his fastball and got Veen to groundout twice. Veen later doubled in the left-center gap and continued to find barrels the rest of the day.
Down 3-0, Spruce Creek sent Zack Bennett up to pinch hit, where he launched a two-run homer to cut the deficit to 3-2. Spruce Creek would later score three more runs on an error and an RBI single that would give them a 5-4 win. Zack Bennett is our Game 3 MVP.

Scouting Report
UCF recruit, the 6-foot-5, 205 pound right-hander has a long, lean and strong frame. Works with a high front side and creates angle on the fastball that ranged from 80-84 mph. Allowed three hits over 3 ⅔ innings, while walking one and striking out five. Overall, a high upside and has shown more velocity in the past and will have more velocity in the future.
Currently stands at 6-foot-4, 190 pounds has a long, lanky, square shouldered frame. Defensively, the actions work at first base and is a solid defender. Offensively, the right handed hitter creates leverage with his long arms. There is some steepness in the path, but has some feel for the barrel and created an exit velocity of 79.6 mph. On the mound, he features long over-the-top arm action and created tilt with a fastball. With a strong, high front side, he lands in line and also feature a curveball at 69-70 mph with a good shape.
