Road Dawgs Roster Reads of Rising Stars

Buddy Gouldsmith
Nevada Scouting Director

HERITAGE PARK – The Nevada Road Dawgs led by Al Ramirez ran out a mix of talent from across the Vegas Valley.  Their roster bolstered players from more than 7 different high schools and a wealth of talent.  The Road Dawgs prowess can be seen from the outfield to the mound led by the likes of Durango’s Irvin R. Weems III (2021, San Diego State commit), and Palo Verde’s Mason Neville (2022).  Weems was as impressive in the outfield as Neville was on the mound.  He glided around the outfield and made diving as well as shoestring catches. He displayed a good arm on an attempted tag and advance from the visiting SoCal Bombers. Neville was outstanding on the mound in a limited look, showing a fastball up to 85 with solid feel for his breaking ball. Neville is a 6-foot-2, 170, lanky left-hander with the potential to be two-way player at the next level.

Other notable Road Dawg players included shortstop Bradley Stone and Donovan Gladney.  Both Stone and Gladney hail from the 2020 class and both appear physically ready to impact a program at the next level.

Bradley Stone, SS, Arbor View, 2020

Evenly proportioned, 6-foot, 170, Stone has solid infield actions.  He likes to employ a shuffle to add carry across the diamond. Footwork and pure arm strength may lend better to second base but strength gains may provide the ability to stay at shortstop. Stone could easily add depth to program in need of a developing player at all three infield positions.  He is a leftahanded hitter that showed patience at the plate.

Donovan Gladney, OF, Rancho, 2020

Strong, 5-foot-9, 160, Gladney is a physically developed smaller framed player with well defined strength.  He moved easily around the outfield and caught what he was able to get to, Playing left field, his throws were online.  The limited look did not provide an opportunity to reveal any real showing of arm strength, footwork or transition to throw. When he started his bat, he maintained a short, quick, on plane swing.
