Scouting Report
Notes: Outfielder Brysen Vernon is someone we've seen grow over the past couple years, and he took another step in 2021, highlighted by an appearance at the CPBL All-Star Showcase where his strength was on full display. The 6-foot-2, 185-pound right-handed hitter from the Windsor Selects was crushing balls to his pull-side throughout the weekend with some loud rounds in the cage as well as during the Homerun Derby. The strength plays in all areas of his game with throws up to 88 mph from the outfield and there’s still more room for Vernon to add strength without hindering his ability to play the outfield. The swing plays and he's someone we believe has a high ceiling with lots more to come from the Windsor outfielder.
Vernon stood out at the uncommitted open as the 6-foot-2, 185-pound right-handed hitting outfielder had a solid overall day in every aspect. Vernon looks stronger and has done his job in the weight room, adding size and muscle. He ran a 7.26 in longer grass, was 88 mph from the outfield and was 91 exit velo off the tee. The swing has some sneaky juice and there is some raw ability to work with. He can fine tune and clean up the swing and lower half, but Vernon has tools to work with and a very intriguing upside.
1.21.19
A twitchy outfielder from Windsor, Vernon is an interesting player for the Windsor Selects of the PBLO. Vernon features a thick 5-foot-10, 165-pound build, with lots of rawness to his game. At the plate, he shows the ability to use his hips effectively allowing him to generate bat speed at the plate. He stays short to the baseball and uses the whole field spraying line-drives last September during the Selects Scout Day. In the outfield, he goes after balls comfortably and unleashes a smooth, quick arm from a ¾ slot with carry. Vernon’s ability to turn his tools into in-game skills will be something to watch in the 2019 season.
