Maryland Summer Trials

Body: 6’1’’, 205 pounds. Strong, physical frame. 
Hit: RHH. Hits from a relaxed open stance at the plate with hands pre-loaded. Small leg kick used for rhythm and timing. Strong lower half involvement and really gets into it. Short to the ball with quick, loose hands, and creates fast, whippy bat speed through the zone. Fluid uphill swing path with great extension through contact and a strong two-handed finish. Really nice gap-to-gap approach and feel for the barrel. Ball jumps off the bat.
Power: 84 mph exit velocity from the tee. Present power to all fields and strength in the swing. 
Arm: RH. INF - 81 mph. Throws with shorter arm action from a high three-quarter slot. Showed the ability to throw from various arm angles with comfort depending on the type of play.
Defense: Plays loose in the field and moves well for his size. Works through the ball fielding it out in front and funnels to chest. Quick transfers and slight glove tap in gather. Ability to make all different kinds of plays. 
Run: 4.65 home-to-first time.

Delivery: Controlled small side-step wind-up with rhythm and high leg kick to a tall, compact balance point with a quarter turn. Gradual, smooth stride down the mound with strong lower half drive. Lands in-line with home plate and finishes over the front side well in an athletic position. 
Arm Action: RH. Throws with long, free arm action from a high three-quarter slot with intent. Creates quick arm speed and whip through release. 
FB: T83 mph, 82-83 mph. Showed some arm-side run with an average spin rate of 1993 rpm.
CB: 64-65 mph. Big 11/5 shape at times with an average spin rate of 2225 rpm. 
SL: 71-72 mph. Tighter 11/5 shape, tight with an average spin rate of 2326 rpm.
CH: 69-72 mph. Average spin of 1570 rpm.

Mid-Atlantic Summer Championships

DeLair is 6-1 with an athletic frame that already has some strength to it but still has projection left as well. Throws from a high three-quarters arm slot with a short free arm action that is quick. Some effort to his delivery, shoulders closed and slightly uphill, swings into an open landing with a fall off finish. Fastball was 77-79, touching 80 multiple times with some boring action to armside. Threw a straight change-up at 71 and showed two breaking balls,, a 12/6 curveball at 62-63 and a late 11/5 breaking slider at 68-69. 

MD Freshman Free Showcase

Solid body type and 6’1’’, 205 pound frame. Hits from a balanced, open stance at the plate. Short, smooth back load with a small leg kick for rhythm and timing. Attacks the ball with a strong, short, level swing. Showed some bat speed and lower half involvement. Power type hitter with present pull-side pop. Recorded an exit velocity of 82 mph. Works through the ball at first base with fundamental footwork. Throws with longer arm action from a high three-quarters slot at 77 mph. Controlled side-step wind-up and leg kick into a tall, compact, balance position. Clean hand separation and down to out lower half drive. Gets over front side well and lands square to the plate with a strong athletic finish. Throws from a mid three-quarters arm slot with easy effort and long, loose arm action. Fastball sat 74-76 mph and change-up was 64-66 mph with some nice fade. Breaking ball showed 11/5 shape at 61-62 mph.
