Team OK Future Games Roster Preview: Position Players

Scott Hood
OK/MO/KS/ARK Assistant Scouting Director

The Future Games has proven year after year to be the premium recruiting event of the Summer with the top uncommitted prospects from all across the United States competing against each other.  The position players will take part in a pro-style workout on Wednesday afternoon before heading into their three games later on in the week.  Ahead of this week's activities, we dive a little deeper into the guys getting at bats this week down below.

You can find full event details and schedule by clicking here

Mason Pickering C / 1B / Oktaha, OK / 2025

Pickering joins Team Oklahoma as one of the more coveted left-handed hitting catchers in the area.  He has the physical build with strength starting to come out and showing an ability to collect hits in a hurry.  Defensively he plays with a high motor with strong blocking and receiving abilities and throws showing strong carry to the bag.  Pickering will also see some time at first base throughout the week showing some real versatility that he can provide for programs at the next level.

Cash Williams C / SS / Choctaw , OK / 2025

Williams returns to the Future Games after putting on one of the more impressive performances from last year's Games as a rising sophomore.  Williams broke the pop time record at 1.78 during the workout and continued to impress showing he can carry his elite catch and throw skills to gameplay.  He is one of the more athletic backstops in the country regardless of class running in the 6.6's in the past and has one of the more premium bats with strong gap power.  Williams enters this year's Future Games as one of the highest ranked uncommitted prospects in the country and will be a must-watch prospect throughout the week.

Luke Beeler C / 1B / Holland Hall, OK / 2025

Beeler will split his time between first base and behind the plate for Team Oklahoma throughout the week offering above average defense at both spots.  Beeler has a knack for catching runners with an accurate arm and quick release from behind the plate. His carrying tool is his ability to control the barrel in the zone with a high hit tool.  He shows the ability to drive the ball from gap to gap with impressive strength in the hands at contact.

Carson Brumbaugh SS / 2B / Santa Fe, OK / 2025

Brumbaugh is another returning Okie from last year's squad and impressed in his first showing at the Future Games in 2022.  Ever since last summer he has continued to make big jumps in his game making some of the loudest contact in the state on a consistent basis.  His defense has always been a premium and now he's added more to the arm solidifying his spot on the left side of the infield at the next level.  Brumbaugh is Top 100 player in the country that has had a huge showing on the circuit this summer and should be a name to follow throughout the week and coming months.

Cooper Kardokus SS / RHP / Edmond Memorial, OK / 2026

The lone 2026 grad to represent Team Oklahoma, Kardokus continually finds himself shining in game play when we get our eyes on him.  The switch-hitter has advanced strength from both sides of the plate with a gap to gap approach and should continue to add strength giving him a higher power profile in the future.  Defensively he can play all over the infield and has routinely made tough plays look easy.  He understands how to run the bases and can handle all facets of the game at high level even at a younger age.

Eli Ramirez SS / RHP / Duncan, OK / 2025

Ramirez might have one of the smaller frames but don't let that fool you.  The State Champion wrestler has a ton of athleticism and packs a lot of punch both in the barrel as well as his arm strength showing up across the diamond.  After impressing on the mound at the Future Games last year, Ramirez will add the 2-way moniker to his name giving programs at the next level a ton of options for him in the future.

Declan Murphy 3B / RHP / Carl Albert, OK / 2025

Murphy gets the ball on the mound for Team Oklahoma out of the gates but will also put his swing on display for the squad on Friday's game against Arkansas.  Murphy has some hand strength at contact that has allowed him to have a big summer with the bat.  Defensively he moves easy at third base and has plenty of arm strength to remain on the left side of the infield in the future.

Brian Justice SS / RHP / Bixby, OK / 2025

Justice is another 2-way guy representing Team Oklahoma showing his position player skills on Thursday and Saturday with him taking the mound on Friday.  Justice played elite defense throughout the spring manning the shortstop position as a sophomore for 6A State Champions from Bixby.  He moves around the dirt with easy footwork and rhythm and shows very soft hands and feel for glove action.  He has some sneaky athleticism and shows some pull side power.

Bryce Tapley OF / SS / Bethel, OK / 2025

Tapley is another returner from last year's squad and remains one of the toolsier players in the class.  With high-end speed and big arm from the outfield, he profiles to any of the three spots allowing teams to have a ton of coverage in the outfield.  He also will split time in the infield offering a ton of positional versatility.  With the bat Tapley has sneaky pop with advanced strength in the hands and strong overall bat speed from the right side that should find his way to the top of lineups at the next level in a hurry.

Joey McLaughlin OF / LHP / Harrah, OK / 2025

McLaughlin might be one of the biggest risers in a short amount of time that we've seen in Oklahoma in a long while.  McLaughlin impressed at the Top Prospect games with rare speed/power combo from the left side that makes him one of the more projectable outfielders in the class.  He routinely found the barrel with hard contact both in the BP session and in gameplay earning his spot on this year's roster.  He is just starting to scratch the surface with his game and has one of the higher ceilings on this year's squad.

Beckett Robinson OF / C / Tahlequah , OK / 2025

Robinson makes his Future Games debut this week as one of the better athletes in the state.  A highly regarded football player, Robinson has already made his mark for Tahlequah in the springtime leading the way with his high-end bat speed and raw power.  Robinson has a big-time arm that will work at the next level already and can really cover some ground with strong instincts and above average speed.  Another prospect that is just starting to find his game and should be one to continue to follow throughout the week and coming months.

Rhett Winchester OF / Edmond Memorial, OK / 2025

Winchester burst onto the scene for Edmond Memorial collecting big hits as a freshman back in 2022 and has continued to make big jumps in his game since.  The 6.6 running outfielder has game changing speed that not only shows up in a laser timed 60 but also translates well into gameplay.  He has the type of profile that can play at any of the three outfield spots in the future and is starting to show more power in the bat to go with his advanced hit tool.  As Winchester continues to add strength in the future, look for him to be one of the more cant-miss prospects in the state.

Cooper Auschwitz UTILITY / 3B / Owasso , OK / 2025

Auschwitz joins the squad after an impressive Spring for Owasso hitting at the top of the order.  The right-handed hitting inf/of has long strides that allow him to cover ground in hurry both in the field and on the base paths.  He has strong gap power that he uses to all fields making him a doubles machine.  He's got a quick twitch swing that should continue to add power in the future.  The Rams utility man is one of the better overall athletes in the class and should be one to make note of heading into this week's Future Games.
