WACO, TX - On Sunday, November 4, some of the top talent from around the state of Texas will gather at Baylor University to compete in the PBR Texas All-State Games. This is an invite only event for players in the 2020-2022 classes. This will be the biggest and best event of the fall, and is LOADED with uncommitted underclassman. Here is a quick look at some of the players in attendance. The event is currently sold out.

Pitching Preview

Fourty-eight arms will pitch an inning in one of three games Sunday afternoon, including multiple two-way guys.

2020 SS/RHP Drake Varnado (Monsignor Kelly HS) is the No. 5 Ranked player in the Texas 2021 Class, and a South Carolina commit. The sophomore not only looks the part at 6-foot-2, 165-pounds, but has the athleticism and natural actions to be a two-way guy at a high level.

2020 LHP Mason Brandenberger (Clifton HS) has serious pitchability with command of three and simply carves up lineups in both summer ball and high school, including leading Clifton to a UIL State Runner-Up finish in 2018. The 5-foot-10, two-sport athlete (football) is one of the biggest sleepers in his class, and will be a quality pickup for whichever school gets him.

2020 RHP Derek Saenz (King HS) topped out at 89 at our Corpus Christi Open in September.

2020 RHP Perry Burkett (Incarnate Word Academy) pitched in a ton of big games this summer for the South Texas Sliders. He has a quick arm and sharp slider at 74-77.

2020 LHP/OF Carson Keithley (Alvin HS) has not even reached his ceiling on the mound, or at the plate. There is a natural athleticism and confidence that the left-hander plays with. He comes from good stock and once he fills out, the sky is the limit.

2021 RHP/3B Evan Johnson (Frenship HS) already has the frame (6-foot-3/190-pounds) to go with a skillset and strength that few players in his class possess. The right-hander was up to 87 at the PBR Future Games and is also a projectable corner bat/two-way guy.

2020 RHP Wesley Kreger (Georgetown HS) is 6-foot-7 with a quick arm and pitched at 86-87 last week in the Canes Scout Day.

2020 RHP Brayden Loving (Magnolia HS) is 6-foot-3, 200-pounds, topped out at 88 at the Houston Fall I.D., flashing a slider at 73-75 mph.

2020 RHP Kole Tauzin (Klein HS) was 84-87 this summer at the PBR Limited Series, with a 72-73 mph curveball.

2020 RHP/SS Gray Harrison (Westlake HS) is an athletic two-way guy that was up to 90 at the PBR Limited Series this summer, pitching at 86-88, and he flashes a sharp curveball.

2020 RHP Cade Maclin (Liberty Christian HS) has a quick arm and is primed to make a jump. He topped out at 87 during the 2018 early high school season, pitching at 83-86 with a sharp curveball at 70-72.

2021 C/RHP Creed Willems (Aledo HS) threw bullets from behind the plate and on the mound at the DFW Fall I.D. He pitched at 87-89 two weeks ago with a 78-80 mph curveball, threw 79 mph from the crouch and posted pop times of 1.93-2.04.

2020 RHP Zachary Childers (College Station HS) has a strong frame at 6-foot-2, 200-pounds and has been pitching in the mid-to-upper 80’s in the past calendar year.

The last time we saw 2021 3B/RHP Shane Martin (Grand Oaks HS) was in January before he had played a high school game. But the 6-foot-3, 190-pound two-way guy was still a standout, and he committed to Wichita State earlier this fall.

2020 RHP Dillon Janac (College Station HS) is super projectable with a long-limbed 6-foot-4 frame with a loose arm swing.

We have liked 2020 RHP/3B Levi Wells (LaPorte HS) since our first look at him a year ago. Very confident two-way guy with a leveraged swing, smooth footwork, and a quick arm on the mound.

2020 RHP Alex Makarewich (Keller HS) was 85-87 mph earlier this fall at the NTX Scout League, with a 74 mph curveball.

2020 RHP Jared Matheson (Lake Creek HS) was 86-88 with fast arm, a 72-76 mph curveball, and a solid changeup at 78-83 mph at the Houston Fall I.D.

2021 RHP Cade Vestal (Frisco Liberty HS) may have the best pure stuff of any arm attending. The 6-foot-2, 194-pound right-hander throws a heavy fastball at 82-86, a short, late breaking curveball at 71-73, and a solid changeup at 74-75 mph.

2020 RHP/1B Oscar Zepeda (Incarnate Word Academy) is another sleeper pick from south Texas. We have seen the right-hander up to 86 this past summer, and he can really pitch, working from a ¾-ish arm slot with a clean arm swing. His slider has good 10/4 shape at 72-73 mph, and his changeup has arm side fade at 77-78 mph.
