The state of Michigan is filled with high-level baseball prospects throughout each corner of the state. The 2018 class has commitments all across the United States, from Vanderbilt to Miami to Kentucky to Missouri to Nebraska and many more colleges across the U.S. When looking at the 2018 rankings, you will see plenty of Michigan colleges littered throughout all of the commitments as well.

The 2019, 2020 and 2021 classes are also loaded and primed to make some big-time commitments to colleges all across the nation over the next few years. We at PBR Michigan look to bring you insightful information on these big-time commits as well as giving everyone a look at some of the top uncommitted prospects available as well.

Below you can see that the top 10 is a mix of some of the most talented prospects the great state of Michigan has to offer within their respected classes. No. 1 Luke Leto SS / RHP / Portage Central, MI / 2021

6-foot-2, 175-pound athletic prospect, who’s only an 8th grader. However, the only way you’d know is if I told you. Left hand hitter swinging solely wood used an even set up with elevated hands. Has a short swing keeping the ball up the middle and to the pull side. Not to mention registered a 93 mph exit velocity. Behind the plate allows his athletic ability to take over showcasing quick feet and a strong throwing arm. As an infielder works through the ball well, bringing the ball into his body throwing from a high 3/4 arm angle.

No. 2 Spencer Schwellenbach SS / RHP / Saginaw Heritage, MI / 2018

6-foot, 190 pound legit two-way Nebraska commit is the #1 player in the 2018 class for Michigan. In the infield clears his hips well working through the ball showcasing soft hands. Effortlessly fires the ball across the diamond from a high 3/4 arm angle. At the plate uses a balanced stance with his hands chest high and a knee bend. Has a front leg lift load with a quick swing, the ball jumps off his bat. Crushed the ball up the middle. On the mound uses a clean and easy delivery throwing from a high 3/4 arm motion. Fastball with no effort sat 88-91 mph with late run. 12/6 breaking curve with tilt 70-71 mph and a sinking change up 77-79 mph

No. 3 Sam Weatherly LHP / OF / Howell, MI / 2017

6-foot-3, 175 pound Clemson commit with a long lean athletic frame is the #1 player in the class of 2017. Has a good feel for the OF attacks the ball well with his momentum going head on using  a crow hop and long loose arm action on the throw. Threw the ball with a ton of carry and arm strength. At the plate used a tall set up with has hands back swinging with a smooth level cut using  a long finish. Drove the ball up the middle and to the pull side consistently.

No. 4 Aaron Dolney C / RHP / Detroit Country Day, MI / 2019

6-foot-2, 200 pound two-way prospect with a very high ceiling. At the plate with a tall stance keeping his hands in a strong position steps into the ball swinging on a slight uphill plane. Absolutely crushed a few balls. Worked the middle of the field. Quick hands and a smooth swing from the left side. On the mound has a simple motion looking down and using a high leg lift throwing from a high 3/4 arm angle. Fastball sat 84-86 downhill. 11/5 sharp breaking 68-71 mph curve and 72-75 mph sinking change up. Behind the plate receives with one hand and is quick out the shoot throwing with an accurate arm.

6-foot-1, 230-pound left-handed hitting catcher, physically advanced, extremely strong lower half, defined shoulders and forearms; possesses overall man-strength. Offensively, showed arguably the biggest power bat at the Super 60. Simple and strong to the ball, minimal moving parts, subtle hand load, explosive lower half yet maintains excellent balance through contact. Generates premium bat speed, consistent loud contact, uphill path creates lift with big pull-side power. Registered 99 mph exit velocity with wood.  Defensively, shows arm strength, throws have on-line carry, 80 mph from the crouch. Runs well for his size and strength, registering a 7.00 laser-timed 60.

No. 6 Obie Ricumstrict SS / 2B / Mt. Pleasant, MI / 2017

Cincinnati recruit. 6-foot-3, 170-pound right-handed hitting shortstop, wiry-athletic build, long limbs, significant projection in frame when/if he physically develops. Fluid, low-effort athlete, easy actions. Glides laterally, athletic hands, ball comes out easy, short athletic arm action, above-average carry, highly accurate, 86 mph across the infield. Offensively, hits from a tall, relaxed setup, leg kick back, hands drop at load, drifts to contact, handsy approach; peppered the middle of the field with line drives during BP. Registered 86 mph exit velocity with wood. Also ran a 6.83 laser-timed 60.

No. 7 John Malcom 1B / OF / Country Day, MI / 2018

6-foot4, 210 pound athletic prospect has been highly regarded as a top player in the country since his freshman year. Committed to Vanderbilt and is the #2 player in the class of 2018 rankings. At the plate sets up with a wide base with elevated hands. Moving in rhythm uses a high leg kick lowering his hands crushing the ball. Turns on the ball with ease and it goes. Has hand speed and power that can't be taught.

No. 8 Cole Daniels LHP / 1B / Saline, MI / 2018

One of the top prospects in the 2018 class, Daniels has a strong 6-foot-1, 215-pound frame. He has an open stance and uses a leg kick with his load. He showed plus bat speed and raw power while showing a short swing. His exit velocity was 94 mph and he ran a 4.71 home-to-1st. In the field, he showed soft hands with a quick transfer when turning the double play. His velocity across the diamond was 83 mph. On the mound, he throws from a high-3/4 arm slot with quick arm speed. His fastball sat 85-86 mph with consistent late run. His curveball had late, sharp 1/7 action that had good depth as it sat 73-74 mph. His changeup had sink at 77-78 mph as he lowered his arm slot. His curveball is already a swing-and-miss pitch.

No. 9 Cameron Tullar LHP / OF / Brighton, MI / 2018

Currently ranked No. 10 in the Michigan Class of 2018, and No. 393 in the PBR Overalls. 6-foot-2, 195-pound left-handed pitcher. Works from a high ¾ arm angle with a short, loose arm action. Drop and drive delivery with a closed toe landing. Fastball showed late running action at 85-86 topping out at 87 mph. Slider has 1-7 shape at 77 mph for strikes. Also featured a curveball with late breaking action and 12-6 shape at 74 mph.

6-foot-3, 180 pound athletic prospect is a two sport varsity athlete playing both basketball and baseball. He brings that basketball athleticism with him on the diamond. Up the middle shows good range with long arms making plays the average player cannot get to. Has smooth actions and displays good arm strength. On the bases he's aggressive with an understanding on how to get a jump. Swiping several bags throughout the week. At the plate more of a contact guy currently with power potential as he continues to add strength and grow into his frame.
