Top Prospect Games - June 13th Stat Sheet

The 2018 Top Prospect Games took place on Tuesday, June 12th and Wednesday, June 13th at Hawkins Field, the home of the Vanderbilt Commodores.  This event included a position player workout, followed by pitchers throwing live on the game mound. Players were afforded the opportunity to showcase their abilities in front of the PBR Tennessee staff and college coaches in attendance. The following is a look at the top statistical performances from the event from the June 13th day.

TOP PITCHING VELOCITIES 

88 – James Sells, RHP, Franklin County/Homeschool, 2021
86 – Nolan O’Shoney, RHP, Clarksville Academy, 2020

- Sells, attending his first PBR event, showed a velocity jump from the spring.  The righty, who already has a feel for pitching, touched 88 once and 87 three times.  Consistently pitching 83-85, he showed the ability to reach back for the extra velocity when he needed it.  He also mixed in a 71-74 CB and a 79 CH.

- Slaughter, attending his first PBR event, showed big bat speed, culminating in a 92 mile per hour exit velo.  He also made noise in the game, driving a ground rule double to deep right field.  The left handed hitter also showed the speed you look for in a potential CF, running a 4.37 from the left side.

- Murphy, attending his first PBR event, showed big arm strength from the OF and rangy athleticism.  Featuring a projectable, 6’1, 185-pound build, he also stood out for his ability to cover ground and find consistent barrels in game.

- Buckland showed off his arm strength consistently during the showcase portion, also throwing two others at 85.  Showed solid actions defensively.  Also pitched, working 81-83 with feel for pounding the zone w/ two pitches.

- Lewis continues to show off his arm strength and super quick release, popping a 1.91 on his final throw of the showcase portion.  He also made consistent hard contact all day, driving the baseball gap to gap.

- Both Fergusson and Duke showed off their respective speed on running out the last rep of the batting practice session.  Fergusson, who ran it from the right side, showed he could use his speed, covering gap to gap defensively w/ proper routes and making a number of nice plays defensively in game.  Duke, who ran it from the left side, showed intriguing arm strength behind the plate.
