+ QUICK HITS: PITCHERS

Position Players

Blake Beheler 1B / 1B / George Ranch, TX / 2025

The hard hitting 1st baseman from George Ranch continues to elevate his game each time we see him. The rising Jr. had a good day overall, and showed surprising athleticism for his size. Beheler ran a 7.04 60, and it showed up in the game when he hit a triple to the LC gap. Beheler tied for the highest exit velocity during the BP portion of the workout. He has a lot of strength to go with  + bat speed and he generates some loud numbers. But the swing stays short and he shows the willingness to use the whole field.  Beheler continues to get better, and I am excited to see him at Lakepoint at the end of the summer.

Nick Bowman RHP / OF / Rains ISD, TX / 2024

Bowman not only was impressive on the mound, he is also quite the CF prospect.  He ran a 6.87 60 to start the day, and then showed off his + arm from the OF topping out at 91 mph. At the plate, Bowman has natural strength, plus he has elite Blast numbers giving him the ability to really impact the baseball. He tied Beheler for the max exit velocity on the day with a number of 101.8.  He also hit the farthest ball during BP with a max distance of 393 ft.  It is easy juice, and it should play in games at the next level.  Bowman has a legit shot to be a 2 way guy at the next level.

J. Caldwell McFaddin 3B / 1B / Magnolia West , TX / 2025

McFaddin has had quite the summer.  He started it off by winning a 5A state championship with Magnolia West High School, and has carried that momentum through the summer. The right handed hitting corner infielder looked more physical since last summer, and it showed up in the numbers.  McFaddin was another one that exceeded the 100 mph mark in the max exit velocity department.  He topped out at 100.3 mph, but does it with a sound approach and is willing to use the whole field.  McFaddin showed off his arm during the defensive workouts, topping out at 88 mph across the diamond.  Overall, it was another impressive showing for McFaddin.

Austin Godwin 1B / 3B / Cy Fair, TX / 2024

Godwin really showed some power at the plate during his BP at A&M. The rising senior from Cy Fair looked more physical and his metrics would support that. He had a max exit velocity of 98.7 mph and a top distance of 370 ft.  He has + bat speed and can impact the baseball while using the whole field.  Godwin can play all 4 corner positions at the next level giving him positional flexibility.  Godwin has a chance to really hit for some power at the next level, and continues to look better with each viewing we get.

Devin Nunez 2B / OF / Navasota, TX / 2024

Nunez plays the game with a lot of bounce and energy, and it is always fun to watch him compete. The future Cornhusker ran the 2nd best 60 time at the event with a time of 6.68.  He showed good quickness and range during the infield portion of the workout.  He moves laterally well and he has enough arm to play on the left side, maxing out at 87 mph across the diamond.  At the plate, Nunez deposited multiple balls over the RF wall at A&M.  He consistently delivered mid 90’s exit velocities and shows + bat speed.  Nunez is a fun player who offers a nice speed + power combo that allows him to impact the game in a multitude of ways.

Billy Theroux 3B / RHP / St. Thomas, TX / 2024

Theroux had a really good day, and put up some loud numbers across the board. The talented 3rd baseman from St. Thomas HS started his day by running a 6.96 60, showing above avg. athleticism for the hot corner.  He showed good actions on the dirt, with plenty of arm to stay at 3rd. At the plate, Theroux topped out at 95.4 mph for his Max Exit Velocity, and then he had quality ab’s during gameplay. Theroux is an athletic 3rd baseman with some present strength and room for more.  There is a lot to like on both sides of the ball with Theroux, and someone is going to get a steal with him.

Jaime Lopez SS / RHP / PSJA, TX / 2024

One of the all around stars of the day was Lopez. The rising Sr. from the PSJA put up numbers across the board, and it carried over in gameplay.  He ran the best 60 at A&M, registering a 6.58 60, showing top of the order speed.  He impressed with the glove during the defensive workout, showing good range to go with really advanced glove work.  He has the arm to stick at short, as he was 89 mph across the diamond. At the plate, Lopez’s swing is geared for him to stay up the middle and work backside.  He topped out at 95 mph for his max exit velocity, but there is more there with a change in the approach more geared to catch the ball out front. Lopez smoked a 2b in game over the CF’s head.  Overall, Lopez had a really good day, and needs to be on a lot of schools' radar.

Ayden Pearcy C / 3B / Friendswood, TX / 2024

I hadn’t had a chance to see a lot of Pearcy in person, but he made quite the impression throughout the day at A&M. He stood out in everything he did, showed well on both sides of the ball, and played with a lot of energy throughout the entire day.  Pearcy showed well behind the plate, consistently getting pop times between the 2.0-2.05 mark.  He also looked good with the glove at 3rd and made some nice plays.  Pearcy showed some power potential during BP and in game. He had a max exit velo of 94.8 mph and then he was robbed on the warning track during gameplay.  Pearcy showed out at A&M, and is a good defensive catcher that brings offensive value as well. The uncommitted backstop should be a hot name as the summer winds down and we head into the fall.

Landon Farco

 SS/CF / BYRON NELSON HS, TX / 2024

Farco had a really nice day as well, showing high level athleticism and also delivered a couple hits during gameplay. Farco started by running a 6.78 60 and then showed off his arm talent by delivering a 90 mph throw from the outfield and 88 mph from the infield. Farco offers the ability to play all 3 positions up the middle well, which should make him even more appealing to colleges.  At the plate, Farco is a switch hitter, and the swings are similar on both sides.  He has a little more comfort from the right side, and because of that shows more power from that side.  Overall, Farco is a good athlete who offers positional versatility and an intriguing skill set at the plate.  Another quality uncommitted 2024.

Jordan Yearby OF / 2B / Plano East, TX / 2024

Yearby had himself a very solid day in all phases.  He started his day by running an impressive 6.79, but with an improved 10 yard start, Yearby could be down in the 6.6’s pretty quickly. The Plano East product showed off his range in Centerfield during BP and during the game, tracking down balls in the gaps.  He showed a quality arm that saw him top out at 88 mph. Yearby continues to hit this summer, and this day was no different. He got on base multiple times during the game, and drove the ball with authority during BP. There is still some rawness in the swing, but the bat speed and the ability to get the barrel to the ball are there.  Yearby has really impressed this summer, and continues to elevate his game.

Caden Young C / 3B / Allen, TX / 2024

The backstop from Allen continues to elevate his game on both sides of the ball, and he really showed out behind the plate at A&M. Young is one of the premier catch and throw guys in the state and he showed it off by delivering an event best 1.88 pop time. He does it with quick feet, a good exchange, and a strong, accurate arm.  Young continues to make strides at the plate.  He is starting to get into his power more and it is showing up on the field.  He showed the ability to drive the ball with authority to the pull side.  Young finished his spring on a heater for Allen, and he has continued his good play throughout this summer.

Jake Scheiden C / 3B / Keller, TX / 2025

The Keller HS backstop continues to have a good year, as he showed out at Olsen Field. The rising Jr. really showed well on both sides of the ball. First, behind the plate, Scheiden showed a strong, accurate arm and had one of the best pop times at the event. Jake’s best time was a 1.96 and was consistently under 2.05. He had a good round of BP, but then really showed out during the game with multiple hits.  He got consistent, good swings off and showed the ability to hit spin. Overall, it was a really good day for the catcher from Keller.

Drake Bentke OF / RHP / Brenham, TX / 2026

I was excited to get my 1st in person viewing of Bentke, and the future Aggie can really hit. The LHH from Brenham has natural barrel skills and it showed during gameplay. He had a hit in a tough left on left matchup and also showed the ability to hit the ball hard even on pitches that aren’t in the strike zone. He is a confident hitter in the box.  Bentke profiles as a corner outfielder who is going to hit at a high level.

Chase Pearrow SS / 3B / Waxahachie, TX / 2026

Pearrow really impressed at A&M. I got my 1st look at him last fall, and he has put the work in since then. Chase is significantly stronger and it shows up at the plate and in the field. He showed really good actions at short, and is really good at creating his hop.  He works through the ball nicely and has all the actions of a high end shortstop.  At the plate, the bat speed was noticeably better, and he was looking to drive the baseball during gameplay. He had a hit, and multiple good ab’s. Pearrow has really elevated his game since the fall, and I am excited to see the progression to continue.

Cole Lanclos SS / 2B / Concordia Lutheran, TX / 2025

Lanclos was solid across the board, showing good athleticism and the ability to hit in game.  Lanclos clocked in a 6.98 60 to start his day.  He showed great actions on the dirt, and looked more than capable of locking down short.  He showed a good arm, topping out at 87 mph across the diamond. At the plate, Lanclos had a solid round of BP and went foul pole to foul pole with his round.  He had some really good ab’s in the game, and drove one the other way for a hit.  Lanclos does everything well, and he continues to have a big 2023.

Cody Palacios OF / RHP / Magnolia West, TX / 2025

Palacios was another member of the state championship team at Magnolia West, and had a great day at A&M in all phases of the game.  He ran a 6.82 showing good athleticism and then showed off the best arm at the event from the OF, as he topped out at 93 MPH. On top of the velo, it was accurate with good carry and is a real weapon from the OF.  He showed his versatility, by showing good glove work at short and once again showing a quality arm across the diamond. Palacios took a solid round of BP, staying mostly gap to gap with his approach. He was consistently in the low 90’s with his exit velos, but those numbers will continue to rise as he gets stronger. Overall, a really good day for the talented rising Jr.

Preston Lewis C / 3B / Rockwall Heath, TX / 2026

Another standout behind the plate on the day was Lewis. The rising sophomore from Rockwall Heath showed all the makings of a high end catch and throw guy with some offensive potential as well. Lewis had a best pop time of 1.99, showing a strong, accurate arm.  He is a good receiver of the baseball, and you can see him really work for his pitchers during gameplay. At the plate, Lewis really works on staying inside the ball and using the big part of the field. I think there is more power in there as he learns to pick his spots and lets the barrel fly.  Lewis can really defend behind the plate, and I think he is going to hit. As he continues to mature, and he gains more strength, Lewis is going to continue to elevate his game.

Josiah Rojas 1B / LHP / The Colony, TX / 2026

Rojas was one of the stars of the day. We talked about him on the bump yesterday, but Rojas can really hit from the left side.  The rising sophomore from The Colony had some of the best ab’s during gameplay that netted him multiple hits and barrels.  The sweet swinging lefty showed the ability to stay in there left on left and really battled and fought off some tough pitches.  He showed some juice as well, maxing out at 94 mph on his top exit velocity.  Rojas offers some positional flexibility as well, he can pick it at 1st base or go play quality outfield. Overall, it was a really good day for Rojas.

Wyatt Clewett

3B / RHP / MONTGOMERY HS , TX / 2026

Rankings  StateRank: 44 / POS: 3

I was excited to see Clewett after he impressed back in January, and he continues to get better. The LHH from Montgomery has an ultra projectable frame that should see him stack on plenty of good weight and strength. He is a solid athlete as well, as he ran a 6.93 60. Clewett has good actions on the dirt and showed a quality arm that topped out at 84 mph across the diamond. Clewett has a good swing from the left side that flashes some power potential. He maxed out at 93.9 mph for exit velocity, but as he continues to get stronger he is really going to be able to impact the baseball.  Clewett has good actions all over the field, and a frame to dream on. As he continues to fill out, his stock is going to continue to blow up.

Vince Long 3B / SS / Denton Guyer, TX / 2026

After watching Long hit all weekend at the PBR Texas Summer Championships, I was excited to see how he handled the older competition. It didn’t phase Long, as he shows high level barrel skills at the plate. The rising sophomore from Denton Guyer, doesn’t have a lot of wasted movement at the plate and consistently gets the barrel to the ball. He had multiple good ab’s that saw him waste quality pitches until he got one he could do something with. He has good bat speed, and as he matures he is going to have above average power as well. He is a good defender at 3rd with more than enough arm for the position.  Long looks like the next big time hitter to come through the Denton Guyer program.
