The PBR Tennessee Top Prospect Games took place June 9-10 with a position player showcase at Maryville College and game play at the University of Tennessee. The following is an in-depth look at the pitchers from Team Royal.  This is pitcher analysis only.  Those players who also played a position for Team Royal will have their position player evaluation featured in a subsequent article.

Brandon Garland, LHP, Unicoi County HS, 2017
6-foot-2, 182-pound prospect uses long arm action through a high-3/4 slot, arm is loose and quick, was on the mound for the second time since missing a good part of the spring with an ankle injury, struggled some with command in the first inning, fastball sat 87-90 mph touching 91, flashed a slider at 78-79 mph, 77-82 mph changeup is a solid pitch and thrown with good arm action and deception, allowed one infield single, walked two, and struck out three in his two innings of work, one of the top left-handed arms in the 2017 class.

Cameron Wolfe, RHP/3B, Baylor HS, 2017
6-foot-2, 160-pound RHP with long frame that projects well, uses long arm action through a high-3/4 slot, minimal effort in delivery, throws strikes with a two-pitch mix, showed an increase in velocity since late last fall, fastball sat 79-80 mph, curveball shows sharp 11/5 action at 70-72 mph, struck out one and allowed an infield single in his one inning of work, has begun to show velocity gains and would expect more to come.

Avery Conkin, OF/LHP, Science Hill HS, 2017
6-foot-2, 200-pound prospect with strong frame, uses medium arm action through a high-3/4 slot, minimal effort in delivery, easy effort delivery, fastball sat 77-79 mph with occasional arm-side run, 64-66 mph curveball is solid with good depth and 1/7 action, works quickly and pounds the zone, allowed no hits and struck out three, including one on a back-heel curveball, in a solid two-inning performance on the mound

Jack DeVault, RHP, Farragut HS, 2017
6-foot-2, 160-pound RHP with projection in frame, uses long arm action through a high-3/4 slot, stays tall and uses leverage on the mound, arm shows some quickness, struggled to command both the fastball and curveball but has big upside, fastball sat 82-84 mph with occasional downward tilt, needs to develop better feel for 64-66 mph curveball, allowed two hits and walked four in his two innings of work, interesting 2017 prospect to keep a close eye on.

Lance Hamilton, LHP, Clinton HS, 2016
6-foot-2, 165-pound prospect with projectable frame, uses long arm action through a high-3/4 slot, regular effort in delivery and lands square to the plate, four-seam fastball shows some cut action, two-seam fastball shows good arm-side run, fastball velocity sat 77-80 mph, throws a 64-68 mph curveball with 1/7 action, tends to get around 70-73 mph changeup causing some cut action, throws strikes with all pitches, allowed three hits and struck out one (on a changeup) in his two innings of work.

Tayler Landrum, RHP, Summertown HS, 2016
6-foot, 186-pound prospect uses an over head windup with up tempo delivery, long arm action through a ¾ slot, comes at hitters and not afraid to pitch inside, pounds the strike zone, fastball sat 79-81 mph with occasional arm-side run, 64-67 mph curveball shows gradual 11/5 action, works both sides of the plate with the fastball, had an impressive outing allowing no hits with four strikeouts in his two innings of work.

Alex Tucker, SS/RHP, McCallie HS, 2016
6-foot-2, 175-pound prospect, frame offers good projection, uses long arm action through a high-3/4 slot, regular effort in delivery, fastball is straight at 76-79 mph touching 80 on one occasion, curveball varied between 64-69 mph and showed sharper 11/5 action when throw at the higher velocity, relied on the two-pitch mix in his two innings of work, allowed four hits, walked two, and struck out three in his outing.
