For the second consecutive year the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC), and specifically the eastern division of the conference, flexed its muscle on the biggest stage of Division II baseball.

The West Chester Golden Rams won the Eastern division of the PSAC, lost to Seton Hill in the conference tournament championship game, won the Atlantic Regional and capped a 44 win season by winning the 2017 Division II National Championship.

The title was the second in the past six years for the Golden Rams and came on the heels of a runner-up national finish by PSAC eastern division rival Millersville in 2016.

West Chester swept through the eight team field going 4-0 in similar fashion to its 2012 title run. Closer Josh McClain, named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player, entered in the 6th inning of the title game with the bases loaded and one out with West Chester leading 2-1. UC San Diego was able to plate one run but McClain cruised through the final three innings while the Golden Rams rallied for a 5-2 win to secure the title.

First baseman Jared Melone (North Penn, 2015) and shortstop Nick Ward (Unionville, 2014) also were named to the all-tournament team.
