Indiana Player of the Week : Week 7

Our Player of the Week honors will be awarded each week of the high school season. High school coaches will be asked to submit their candidate for Player of the Week after the conclusion of each week, please send all submissions to [email protected] for consideration for this award.

Our Week #7 honors goes to JD Stein of Carmel High School.


JD Stein SS / Carmel High School, IN / 2025

Stein enjoyed a big week for the 4A #16 Carmel Greyhounds. Currently the top-ranked uncommitted junior in state - Stein went 10 for 16 (.625) on the week, clubbing three home runs, while scoring eight runs and collecting seven RBI. 

 

 

Ethan Lund, LHP, Hamilton Southeastern, Senior

Lund picked up a big conference win for HSE, going 6 2/3 IP versus Westfield. The Oklahoma State signee punched out (15), allowing just three hits and three walks, and zero runs. 

Hudson Devaughan, RHP, Mooresville, Sophomore

The state's top-ranked sophomore went the distance versus Plainfield to earn the complete game win. The Alabama recruit struck out (16) batters, allowing just a pair of hits, three walks, and zero earned runs. 

Aiden Smith, RHP/UTL, Shelbyville, Sophomore

Smith broke Shelbyville's school record for strikeouts in a game in his start against New Castle this week. Smith punched out (16) batters, and allowed just a pair of hits, one earned run, and three free passes in the complete game win.

Kaleb Short, INF/RHP, River Forest, Senior

Short was our Week #6 Player of the Week and backed that performance with another eye-popping stat-line in Week #7. The Ancilla JC recruit went 5 for 8 at the dish, collecting a pair of triples, while also pitching (9) scoreless frames with (25) strikeouts. Short has (56!) strikeouts in the past two weeks. 

Dillon Stewart, RHP/INF, Tri-Township, Junior

Stewart cracks the list for the third time this season, performing at a high level in his junior season for Tri-Township. This week, Stewart went 8 for 9 (.889) at the dish, collecting (1) 2B, (2) 3B, and (2) HR. He also tossed 6.1 scoreless innings on the bump, striking out (11).

Adam Traylor, OF/LHP, Southwestern (Hanover), Junior

The uncommitted junior performed well on both sides of the ball this week for the Rebels, tossing a 5-inning no-hitter in his start on the mound. Traylor also added a 6 for 10 (.600) week at the plate, collecting (2) 2B, (9) RBI, (4) runs scored, and (2) SB, while reaching base at a .692 clip.

Cal Schembra, 1B/OF, Center Grove, Junior

Schembra had a big week for the 4A #1 Trojans in Week #7, going 7 for 10 (.700) with (4) doubles, a homer, (8) RBI, and (5) runs scored, helping Center Grove to another undefeated week. 

Gunner Wade, LHP, Franklin Community, Freshman

The freshman southpaw collected the first no-hitter of his career this week versus Plainfield. Wade threw (7) scoreless, hitless innings in the complete game win, striking out seven and allowing three walks. 

Lannon Nicoloff, SS, Harrison, Sophomore

Nicoloff has been a consistent performer in his sophomore campaign for the 4A #23 Harrison Raiders. This week - Nicoloff went 6 for 10 (.600), with a home run, seven runs scored, three RBI, two stolen bases, and he reached base at a .692 clip.

Peyton Dickens, OF/RHP, Whiteland, Junior

Another repeat performer on this list enjoying a breakout junior season for Whiteland - Dickens went 12 for 20 (.600) with (3) 2B, (2) 3B, (8) RBI, (8) runs scored, and (6) stolen bases. The uncommitted junior also earned a complete game win versus Danville, punching out eight and allowing just one hit. 

Collin Osenbaugh, RHP/INF, Shenandoah, Junior

The Louisville recruit hit (.625) for the week, with a (.750) on base percentage. Osenbaugh collected a double, triple, and a home run throughout the week. In the county tournament, Collin threw three scoreless innings, striking out 6. 

Austin McNabb, RHP, Perry Meridian, Junior

The Dayton recruit has had a big year after being selected to our 4A Preseason All-State team. This week - McNabb led the #21 Falcons to a big road win versus #22 New Palestine. McNabb threw a complete game shutout, striking out (11), allowing just a pair of hits. 

Ryan Tester, UTL, Adams Central, Senior

Tester batted (.588) on the week, going 10 for 17, with (3) 2B, (12) RBI, and (4) SB. He also collected a win on the bump for Adams Central, throwing seven innings of one-run baseball, while striking out (12). 

Dakota Perry, UTL, Adams Central, Senior

Perry earned a win for Adams Central this week, throwing 7.2 scoreless innings, allowing just a pair of hits and striking out eleven. He also went 9 for 16 (.563) with a triple and five runs driven in. 

Reed Nelson, RHP, Warsaw, Junior

Warsaw continues to climb our 4A polls, up to #18 this week, and Nelson had a big hand in their undefeated Week #7. The junior right-hander collected two wins on the mound in Week #7, throwing 9 1/3 scoreless innings, allowing just four hits and a pair of walks. 

Cole Huett, OF, Providence, Junior

Huett helped Providence to an undefeated week, and the Pioneers now sit at #5 in our 2A polls. The Virginia recruit collected six hits in 12 at-bats this week (.500), clubbing a homer and collecting five RBI. 

Gavin Kuzniewski, RHP, Fishers, Senior

Kuzniewski earned a complete game win over conference foe Franklin Central in his start this week. An Ohio State signee, Gavin punched nine in seven innings of work, allowing just four hits and one earned run, while retiring 18 of his last 19 batters. Kuzniewski also batted (.400) on the week for the 4A #7 Tigers. 

Eli Roe, MIF, Kokomo, Freshman

Roe is a freshman that is contributing early in his career for Kokomo. This week, Roe helped the Kats to a 3-0 week by going 7 for 11 (.636) with a pair of RBI and three runs scored. 

Dalton Barney, 1B, Southwood, Junior

Barney had a huge week for Southwood during Week #7 - going 13 for 19 (.684) with (3) doubles, (3) RBI, (4) runs scored, to go along with a pair of stolen bases. 

Brayden Ault, C, Edgewood, Senior

The senior backstop showed off his power for Edgewood this week, with four of his five hits going for extra bases. In total, the Hanover recruit went 5 for 10 (.500) with (2) doubles, (2) homers, and (7) runs driven in. 

Noah Dasgupta, LHP, Cascade, Sophomore

Dasgupta tossed a no-hitter versus Speedway, striking out (12) in the complete game win. Dasgupta allowed just 1 run, walking four.

Noah Dininger, C, Bethesda Christian, Junior

Dininger had a big week for 1A Bethesda Christian, going 6 for 7 (.857) with a double and triple. The junior backstop added six RBI, four runs scored, and an on-base percentage of .900 for the week.

Bryce LaSane, INF/C, Mishawaka Marian, Senior

LaSane, a Triton JC recruit, helped 3A #7 Marian to a pair of wins this week. Bryce hit (.467) for the week, including (3) doubles, a homer, and (8) RBI.
