Uncommitted Spotlight: '21 Christian Dijkman

Brett Harrison
Nevada Scouting Director

A trim Christian Dijkman made his summer debut yesterday for Bases Loaded Elite down in Arizona, striking out 10 batters over his 5.2 innings of work. Previously at 6-foot-1, 220 pounds at the Faith Lutheran Scout Day, he showcased a raw four pitch arsenal that showed promise, but the stamina was his biggest question mark. Now, a slimmed down version of himself (50 pounds slimmer to be exact) looks to have gained even more confidence than he previously possessed and could see some velocity jumps coming in the near future. A testament to his work ethic, Dijkman has taken full advantage of the down time, committing to improving his physical stature and it seems to already be paying off. As he heads into his senior season for the Crusaders, this is a prospect that could make some big jumps, developing more feel for each of his pitches and potential significant increases in velocity.

Christian Dijkman - Player Profile

Delivery: Starts far left on the rubber. Rhythmic, clean delivery. Drop and drive type. On line stride. Some effort at release with slight fall off to the glove side. Works quickly and with confidence.
Arm Action: RH. Compact, quick arm action. High ¾ to over-the-top arm slot. Repeated, but does slow down some on off-speed pitches.
FB: 83, 81-83 mph. Some arm side action. Carries through the zone. Strike thrower. Creates downhill action. Slight fall off to glove side.
CB: 62-64 mph. 11/5 shape. Works well off his fastball. Slightly slows down the arm speed.
SL: 64-66 mph. Late 10/4 action. Commands it well. Locates down in the zone.
CH: 71-74 mph. A work in progress. Tends to slow arm. Continues to progress with feel.

2024-2025 RISING STARS SHOWCASE

The PBR Nevada Rising Stars Showcase is coming Wednesday, June 24th to Desert Oasis High School. The event is open to Class of 2024 & 2025 Prospects.

This event will have four main functions. For most participants, this will be their first showcase event - an initial step toward achieving a player’s baseball goals. Part of this event is educational. There will be a lecture about what scouts look for, how to comport themselves, what to expect in the recruiting process, and the overall landscape of playing at the next level. The second function of this event will be for players to create baseline numbers for themselves to improve. The third reason for this event is for PBR to have an in-depth look at the best young players and the future of the state.  The fourth function of the event is to identify players to represent Nevada at the PBR Junior Future Games held at LakePoint in Cartersville, GA.

PBR Junior Future Games Selection Process

The Junior Future Games Trials will be used to identify players to represent Nevada at the 2020 PBR Junior Future Games at LakePoint. The PBR Junior Future Games is national event that will take place July 29 - August 2 at LakePoint in Emerson, Georgia. The event will run in accordance with the PBR Future Games, which attracts over 300 college coaches from across the country.

The 2020 Junior Future Games will feature the best 2024 & 2025 prospects in the country. Players will participate in a pro-style workout and game-play during the duration of the event.
