Scouting Report
Equipped with a durable, 6-foot-2, 210-pound frame that still shows further future development, Houston is country-strong, and brings a blue-collar approach to the diamond. The big backstop is fluid and controlled with his exchange which allows a strong (79 mph from crouch) arm to play accurately and with carry at 1.93-2.01. His soft hands provide for quality receiving ability along with looser hips. At the plate, he quiet pre-pitch before quick hands strike the barrel through the zone in producing firm (93 mph exit velocity off the tee), gap-to-gap contact with even more power likely on the way in coming years. Overall, the upside is clearly there for Houston, and judging by his in-game production, he should continue reaching it as he gains more experience.
6-foot-2, 200-pounds has the durable frame to stay behind the plate. Houston shows the ability to receive, block, and throw at a high level, with pop times ranging from 1.95- 2.05 consistently. Houston has some thump in the bat and will be able to provide some extra base hits to go along with his defense. Houston also has a natural ability to communicate with others, does a nice job handling multiple pitchers throughout a weekend.
