Underclass Rankings: 2018 and 2019

By: Zac Bottoms
Arkansas Scouting Director

Today is open day, so what time would be better to release the 2018 updated rankings and the 2019 rankings. Our staff has spent hours researching, going over video, notes and talking to trusted baseball resources within the Arkansas baseball community. We are hitting the road starting today to see as many players as possible throughout the high school season. We will overhaul all rankings at the end of May as we see players throughout the spring there is a possibility for adjustments.

2018

No. 1

Connor Noland, RHP, Greenwood HS
Noland is a 6-foot-2 180-pound, right-hander with a large frame and an athletic build. Noland anchored a Greenwood pitching staff as freshmen. He competes in the strike zone with a fastball 84-86 mph. His breaking ball has 11/5 shape and is thrown with near fastball arm speed. Mechanically he is sound with repeatable mechanics and rhythm. He pitches from an H ¾ arm slot with a quick loose arm. Noland is a good athlete with a big arm and advanced ability to throw strikes. Noland is already garnering attention from the elite of college baseball.

2019

No. 1

Blake Adams OF/RHP Har-ber HS
Adams is a 6-foot-1 180-pound two way player, with a large frame and an athletic build. Offensively he starts from an athletic stance he uses a slight load and attacks the baseball with fast bat speed. He maintains rhythm and balance through extension. He would benefit from staying in his lower half longer and driving through the baseball with his hips. He produced exit velocities up to 87 mph. Defensively he plays through the baseball with a clean exchange and an accurate arm throwing the ball 80 mph from the outfield. On the mound Adams is impressive showing advanced power stuff. He works from H ¾ arm slot with a quick loose arm. He commanded the strike zone with a fastball of 83-86 mph touching 87 mph. He compliments the fastball with a curveball thrown 74-77 mph and a change up 68-70 mph. Both pitches he throws with near fastball arm speed. Overall Adams is a physical player with an abundance of tools.
