Welcome to the VA/DC Scoreboard. This year we will run our scoreboards on Wednesdays and Saturdays. We will always be sure to include scores and brief recaps of games involving Power 25 teams and will strive to get as many of the rest of the scores from the Commonwealth and the District as well.

 

Wednesday 3/20

No. 2 St. John's College 12, Potomac School 0
Three pitchers combined to hold Potomac to one hit. Casey Gibbs was 2-3 with 2 doubles and 3 RBIs. Ian Remalia (Liberty) was 2-3 and James Triantos (North Carolina) 1-1 with a walk and 2 RBIs.

Loganville (GA) 5, No. 3 Miller School 3

No. 13 Madison 6, Marshall 3
Ryan Murphy struck out 6 in 3 scoreless innings of relief to earn the save for the Warhawks. Josh Gjormand (Lynchburg) was 1-3 with a walk and an RBI and Chris Polymeropolous was 1-2 with a walk and an RBI for Madison. Danny Hoffman was 1-3 with a walk for the Statesmen.

No. 14 Collegiate 14, Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot 1
Junior Lew Rice was 3-3 with a walk and a home run and 5 RBIs, only missing the single from the cycle. Trey Boll (Virginia) had an RBI and three walks and Micheal Stewart had 3 RBIs.

West Potomac 4, No 20 Bishop O'Connell 3
The Wolverines scored 3 runs in the bottom of the sixth to tie the game and walked it off in the seventh on a Jacob Trumbo single. Adam Fischer struck out 8 in four innings for West Potomac. For the Knights, Will Pickford (Virginia Tech) struck out 4 in three hitless innings of work and Jake Berry (Virginia) and Riley O'Donovan each had two hits.

Josh Lasser was 2-2 with a triple and a home run and 5 RBIs and Zach Lordan had a double and 3 RBIs as well for the Tigers.

No. 1 Benedictine 6, Altoona (PA) 2
Brett Cook had a solo home run and three walks and stole two bases while senior Jamari Baylor (Louisburg CC) was 2-4 with an RBI.

No. 2 St. John's College 5, Gonzaga 1
Junior Garrett Newsome (William & Mary) held the Cadets scoreless through four innings but they started a rally against him in the fifth and took the lead against his relief. Newsome had five strikeouts in those four innings. 

No. 5 Grafton 10, York 0
Junior Mark Petko (Radford) threw four scoreless innings, allowing just two hits and striking out 7. Fellow junior Trey Gibson (Liberty) struck out 5 in two innings. Senior Joseph Majewicz (Radford) had four RBIs and junior Tyler Cotten had three RBIs.

Jefferson Forest 3, No. 8 Liberty Christian 2
The two teams combined for 31 strikeouts. Jefferson Forest junior Griffin Agee (Virginia) threw five innings and struck out 12 while allowing 1 run on three hits. LCA senior Christian Gordon (Liberty) also had 12 strikeouts in six innings while allowing just two hits. Jefferson Forest junior outfielder Jackson Cherry was 1-3 with a walk and an RBI. LCA senior Jacob Williams (Middle Tennessee St) was 2-3.

No. 17 Greenbrier Christian 10, Fredericksburg Christian 7
The Gators used two big innings to rally past FC. Junior Nic Britt (William & Mary) was 2-4 and senior JT Inskeep (VMI) was 3-4 with 2 RBIs. James McGrady also had 3 RBIs and Ethan Ott had 2 RBIs for the Gators. Caleb Ruhle had a double and 3 RBIs for the Eagles and Giovanni Augusti was 2-4 with an RBI.

No. 18 Halifax County 23, Martinsville 0
Senior Alex Lowery threw a three-inning perfect game, striking out 8. Senior Drew Harlow (Radford) had a home run.
