VHSL State Championship Scoreboard: June 14

It is the final day of action here in Virginia, with VHSL holding its State Championships this week after rain in the southern half of the State wrecked last weekend. Today's scoreboard features all results from Friday's State Tournament action.

FriDAY JUNE 14

 

Class 1 Championship

Auburn 9, Lancaster 0
Brady Harris and Reed Underwood combined to toss a 3-hit shutout. Carter Keith, Trevor Miles, Tyler Sparrer, and Austin Kirtner all had multi-hit games for the Eagles with Miles and Sparrer also delivering multiple RBIs. 


Class 2 Championship

Chatham 23, Lebanon 5
Senior AJ Potojecki (Longwood) struck out 8 in 6 innings to pick up the win. Grant Reynolds, Grayson Reed, and Matt Arnold all 4 hits and at least 3 RBIs for the Cavaliers in the win. Brae Adkins and Hunter Adkins also had at least 3 RBIs in the rout.

 

Class 3 Championship

Fluvanna County 16, Tabb 10
Toby Sherman, Kevin Ward, and Jacob Critzer (Lincoln Memorial) all hit home runs for the Fluccos and Andrew Ward (VCU) was 5-6 with 3 RBIs. Brandon Marello had a home run and Joel Martin was 2-4 with 4 RBIs for Tabb.

 

Class 4 Championship

Lafayette 9, No. 15 Riverside 8
Lafayette walked off on an error that allowed two runs to score with 2 outs in the bottom of the seventh. Ozzie Torres was 2-3 with 2 RBIs, Ricky Sullivan was 2-3, and South McDowell had 2 RBIs for Lafayette. For Riverside, John Heltebran and Carson Swank (Yale) both had multi-hit games.


Class 5 Championship

No. 12 Stafford 4, No. 6 Mills Godwin 3
Junior Tucker Sullivan drove in the winning run with a double down the rightfield line as the Indians walked off to the win. Sullivan finished the game 2-4, Eli Lambros was also 2-4 and Caleb and Tristan McAllister were 2-3 for Stafford as well. Noah Cornwell (James Madison) had a home run for Godwin.


Class 6

No. 8 Westfield 9, Ocean Lakes 7 (Semifinal)
In a continuation from last week, Westfield hung on to win and advance. Danny Leo tossed 3 strong innings of relief and Nick Lottchea was 3-4 with a 2B and 2 RBIs for the Bulldogs. Aidan Pinto and Johnny Wall had home runs for the Dolphins, with Pinto going 3-3 in the game Wall's home run a grand slam.

No. 9 Lake Braddock 9, No. 13 James River (Midlothian) 6 (Semifinal)
Lyle Miller-Green (George Mason) punched out 7 in 4.2 innings to pick up the win for the Bruins while also going 2-4 at the plate. Andrew Schaeb was 2-3 with 3 RBIs and Ryan Cuadros hit a home run as well in the win. Alex Balisteri and Will Riley (VMI) hit home runs for JR and Ty Swaim (VMI) was 3-4. 

No. 9 Lake Braddock 6, No. 8 Westfield 2 (Championship)
