There have been seven players named the Porsche Exchange Player of the Week so far this season. This past week’s winner was Metamora senior LHP Geremy Guerrero.

Guerrero twirled a seven inning, complete game shutout, against conference foe Dunlap, last Wednesday. Guerrero allowed one hit, struck out 14 and walked one Dunlap batter. The lone Metamora run came on a Guerrero solo home run. Guerrero’s final line from the start: 7IP, 1H, 0R, 14K, 0BB.

Several players narrowly missed out on winning the award this week. Let’s take a look at some of the players around the state who put up impressive numbers last week:

WEEK 7

Sam Lawrence, LHP, Wheaton North, 2016
Northwestern recruit. Two shutout wins on the week. On Monday against Glenbard North, he went six innings, struck out 10 and scattered two hits in a 4-0 victory. On Saturday against Neuqua Valley he went six more innings, struck out four and scattered three hits in a 5-0 win.

Jacob Nagel, RHP, Bolingbrook, 2016
Bellarmine recruit. Twirled a no-hitter against No. 11 Sandburg last week. Struck out six and earned his sixth win of the year.

Brooks Gosswein, LHP, Barrington, 2017
Ranked No. 23 in Illinois. Tossed his first career no-hitter in a six inning win over Fremd. Gosswein struck out 12, and walked two. He threw 91 pitches, with 60 of them being strikes. Gosswein allowed three total base-runners via two walks and an error. The win clinched the MSL West title for Barrington (22-6) for the fourth year in a row.

Dillon Weiss, OF, O’Fallon, 2016
Weiss had another good week at the plate for No. 2 O’Fallon. He went 12-for-16 (.750) with five doubles, seven RBI and six runs scored. For the season he is hitting: 42-for-94 (.447), 11 2B’s, 20 RBI, 29 R, 7 BB and 7 K.

Casey O’Brien, C, Lemont, 2016
Went 8-for-15 on the week with three doubles and eight runs batted in. He also walked twice and was hit by a pitch.

Garrett Acton, RHP/1B, Lemont, 2016
St. Louis recruit. Had a good week at the plate and on the mound. The left-handed hitter went 6-for-11 with two doubles, three runs batted in, three runs and two walks. On the mound went 1-0, 5.1 innings pitched, struck out 11 and allowed one earned run.
